Ford concept race track vehicle records the 11th best lap with a 1.0 l EcoBoost engine

Ford has used its eco friendly but highly efficient and powerful 1.0 liter Eco Boost engine to power its new generation race track car and the vehicle has managed to record the fastest lap time at the Nürburgring Nordschleife circuit in Germany.

The vehicle is a street legal model of the single seated race track vehicle and the car recorded a lap timing of 7 minutes and 22 seconds, the eleventh fastest lap times ever recorded at the race track.

This is a remarkable feat considering the type of vehicles the car overtook to gain the spot and the sheer size of the tiny engine. The car beat the lap types of the Ferrari Enzo, Lamborghini Aventador and the Pagani Zonda, three cars with much higher displacement than the Ford.

This small engine from Ford has attracted many people's attention and is grabbing eyeballs with its stupendous performance. Nick Tandy, the person behind the wheel of the Ford at the track, was awestruck after the stint with the car and he was heard commenting in utter disbelief that a single liter three cylinder engine could never produce so much power.

Engineers from Ford have invested a lot of time into developing the new Eco Boost petrol engine which produces 205 PS, from the old 1.6 liter 180 PS producing petrol engine. The new 1.0 liter engine was awarded the Best Performing Engine of the Year at a recently concluded event.

The car is said to travel at a maximum speed of 155 mph, but this has not been officially confirmed as of yet. The car accelerates from 0 – 60 mph in less than 4 seconds and the Nürburgring Nordschleife race track was completed at an average speed of 105 mph.

The 1.0 liter Eco Boost engine powered Ford vehicles have beaten the records of many supercars in the past and some of the high ranking vehicles demolished by the race car are the Lamborghini Aventador LP 700 producing 700 HP, the Pagani Zonda producing 602 HP and the Ferrari Enzo which produces a hefty 660 HP.

Other three or even five cylindered vehicles fail to post such impressive time on the German track which is famous for being one of the most difficult tracks in the world. Spokespeople from Ford have confirmed the company's desire to produce a smaller, more capable engine that has the power to beat the senior cousins of the super sports segment with an engine that is more powerful and economic.

In house testing showed that the 1.0 liter Eco Boost engine delivers 118 mpg at an average speed of 35 mph and 57 mpg at speeds close to 75 mph. While the 1.0 liter Eco Boost powered Ford concept is not available for purchase, a similar engine has been installed in the Ford Focus which has been introduced in the European market and the vehicle has proved to be quite a popular one in the present market.

About 30 percent of all Ford users have recommended the Ford Focus for purchase and are planning on shifting to the vehicle themselves.
