Ford buys Livio to attract the younger generation
|   Tuesday, October 01, 2013
In the recent history of automobile manufacturing brands, the use of software has increased exponentially. Many of the systems in a car are now automatic and they are driven by software. New software is also being developed for increasing connectivity inside a car. There has been many leading automobile manufacturer all over world that uses different software for this purpose. Very recently, Ford has also taken a step in this direction.

Ford already had some existing software in their car that promoted voice recognition and other such features.
Now it has enhanced it's in car connectivity, and the big reason behind that is the overtaking of Livio by Ford. Ford already had 7 million cars on the road which had something called Sync Applink system that allows the driver and other persons present in car to control their Smartphone applications by voice recognition system. This facilitates some things like hands free dialling which in turn provides for more secure journey, making the roads safer.

After this purchase, Livio will be a full subsidiary of Ford. This is a big, and hopefully positive, move for both the companies. Livio has been trying to build one platform for all cars to control these kinds of applications, but different car manufacturing brands uses different software for this purpose. Combined with Ford, Livio will be able to proceed in direction of success even a little bit.

Ford has also been trying to reach out to the next generation, the younger generation. For them, connectivity is everything, whether it is with friends or family, or whether it be connection to the internet. The younger generation always want to be connected, and with this start up software from Livio, Ford will finally be able to reach out towards their goal that they have been building up to for quite a long time.

To see it from a different angle, it has been a huge bargain for Ford. They have to pay less than 10 million US dollars for this Michigan based company. And they are provided with 11 person start up. So it has been very advantageous for Ford to finalise this deal, especially at this point of time. Now they can release all their new models in the fourth quarter of 2013 and also in 2014.

Ford has a lot of high hopes connected with their latest master move. It is expected by them that there is going to be an increase in the number of car sales depending on connectivity with driver's smart phone. Now they are in a position to capitalise on this potential hike in number of sales, and therefore, gain a big profit. Although the last joint venture of Ford with respect to technology has not been much of a success, they sure hope for better luck this time.

High authorities of the company have a lot of faith in this joint venture. They hope for it to bring a big boom in sales figures for the company. All car enthusiasts are excited about it.
