Ford Announces the Launch of the Much Awaited Focus ST
|   Wednesday, April 17, 2013
The ST is one of the most appreciated badges in the world of automobiles and Ford has done a commendable job with the ST tagged vehicles. The latest kid on the block is the Ford Focus ST and like its predecessor, the Focus, the ST is a reliable ride aimed at the younger generation. The vehicle focuses mainly on performance and comfort and these are the top priorities of a genuine young car lover.

The Fiesta ST is one of the most popular vehicles to be upgraded with the ST badge and the Focus features the Fiesta's left hand drive platform.
The chassis tweaks and exterior modifications on the Fiesta were however made after a decade since the vehicle was first launched and Ford does not plan on continuing with that record with the Focus ST.

On paper at least, the Ford Focus ST looks like a winner, although practical road tests need to be done to ascertain the facts for sure. The vehicle is powered by a 1.6 liter Eco Boost engine displacing 179 BHP @ 5700 RPM which enables this hot hatch to accelerate to speeds up to 60 MPH from a standstill in less than 6.9 seconds. Such performance figures are normally possible for the Zetec S as well but Ford has worked keenly beneath the hood as well and that is what makes the real difference.

The damper springs feature newer modifications and this enhances the way the vehicle performs on road. Ford is quite confident of the knuckle dampers installed beneath the vehicle and the torsion beam is capable of handling pressure and balance in an overall better manner. Body roll has been minimized and the stiffness is at a whole new level.

Ford has installed the new Torque Vectoring Control in the vehicle and the mechanical differentials are legitimately capable of handling the excess pressure on the vehicle. The normal seats have been replaced by equipments tuned in by Recaro and this enhances the aesthetics of the vehicle. On the exterior front, an additional spoiler, sports rims and exhaust tips have been added which enhances the visual appeal of the vehicle.

The Ford Focus ST has not been tested on track as of yet although it is expected to be tested quite soon. The Focus ST hugs the ground 15 mm over its predecessor and this enhances the way the vehicle handles on road. Ford plans on adding optional 17 inch rims on the vehicle and this should enhance the performance of the vehicle apart from upgrading the way the vehicle looks.

With an estimated price of £17,995, the Ford Focus ST is not placed at the higher side of the table. The vehicle is quite fuel efficient as well and returns close to 47.9 MPG. CO2 emission close to 138 g/km which makes sure that this vehicle is not very environment friendly. Mated to a 6 speed transmission system, the vehicle works perfectly over asphalt and is one of the most awaited vehicles of the year.
