Following BMW X4 And Porsche Macan Mercedes Launches New GLC Coupe
|   Saturday, April 09, 2016
Mercedes has officially unveiled the new GLC Coupe, the younger brother to the current GLE Coupe. The model will compete with BMW X4 and will even be available in a hybrid version.

Mercedes has unveiled the new GLC Coupe and will be the weapon of choice against models like the BMW X4, Jaguar F-Pace and Porsche Macan. Anticipated by the concept with the same name, the series version was officially presented at the Auto Show in New York.

As expected, in terms of aesthetics we do not have too many surprises.
The GLC Coupe copies the aesthetic recipe off its GLE Coupe brother. This means a roof line plunging toward the rear and a lifted tailgate.

Stylistically, the GLC Coupe takes the silhouette from the GLE Coupe. Standing 4.73 m long and 1.6 m high, Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe is about 8 centimeters longer than the GLC SUV. The bodywork is also distinguished by having the best aerodynamic coefficient in the segment (0.31 Cd).

To steal customers from the BMW X4, the GLC Coupe model offers technical solutions that promise to provide sporting skills. Thus, all versions come in standard equipped with a sport suspension setting. The Dynamic Body Control suspension system is available as a steel spring, as well as with adjustable pneumatic dampers. Sport + driving mode considerably strengthens suspensions, with air cushions and lowers ground clearance by 15 mm.

Also, the steering system provides a prompt reaction. Steering reduction ratio is 15.1:1 in the case of GLC Coupe, compared to the GLC's 16.1:1.
The engine range will respond to a larger pool of preferences. The basic models are diesel engines GLC 220d (170 hp, 400 Nm of torque, average fuel consumption 5 l / 100 km, 0 to 100 km / h in 8.3 s), and GLC 250d 4MATIC (204 hp, torque 500 Nm, average fuel consumption 5 l / 100 km, 0 to 100 km / h in 7.6 s) and the gasoline variant, GLC 250 4MATIC (211 hp, 350 Nm torque, average fuel consumption 7 l / 100 km, 0 to 100 km / h in 7.3 s). These three engines will be available at launch, scheduled for the fall.

Towards the end of 2016 the rest of the engines will be added. The 350 GLC e 4MATIC Coupe will be a plug-in hybrid with 320 hp which emits between 59 and 64 g CO2 / km, and can travel 30 km in electric-only mode. The GLC 350 e 4MATIC Coupe will be able to reach 235 km / h and goes from 0 to 100 km / h in 5.9 seconds.
Unlike other models that have 9G-TRONIC transmission with 9 steps, the hybrid model will have the 7G-TRONIC PLUS transmission optimized for this type of propulsion.

The Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 4MATIC Coupe sporty model with a V6 turbo engine rated at 367 hp, which allows it to sprint to 100 km / h in less than 5 seconds, will also appear.

It should be noted that in addition to the 4MATIC all-wheel drive, single deck traction will be available too.
There will also be a special version, Edition 1, which will mark its market debut. It is distinguished by elements such as the AMG Line bodywork package and 20-inch AMG wheels.
