Fisker Karma Based VL Destino Set for Detroit Reveal
|   Thursday, January 16, 2014
The Detroit Motor Show is set to witness some major vehicle launches this year. While some production variants will be revealed, a major portion of last year's crowd will arrive to check out some of their wacky Concept vehicles on display. One such vehicle for sure, is the VL Destino – a V8 engine powered convertible, based on Fisker's Karma platform. People are waiting desperately to catch a glimpse of this car, even though Fisker filed for bankruptcy a few weeks earlier.

VL Automotive, co-owned by Bob Lutz, former General Motors Boss, came up with a saloon variant of the Destino, back at Detroit's Automotive Show, in 2013. That particular model however, was based on a 6.2 liter super charged V8, shunning the Fisker Karma platform. Even though the vehicle as still not been considered for actual production, we expect its convertible to undergo a same fate.

This fact however did not stop VL Automotive from designing a proto type. Fans are actually quite happy with what they had seen last year and would love to return this year to catch a glimpse of its convertible form. The fact that it is based on Fisker's Karma, does not seem to have much effect on the crowd. VL Automotive however, is offering Karma owners a one-time chance of getting their vehicles modified, for a price of £120,000.

This amount is actually twice the price of its original production variant. This package consists of a complete modification, of both interior and exterior. Performance modifications are to be made and you could expect a whole new car, based on the chassis of the Karma. Despite Fisker's current financial state, investors want a new buyer to step up and purchase the firm off its current owners.

Fisker has potential, even though they did not have the necessary resources to set them up. If a qualified business house takes over and invests, better infrastructure and models should come up within the course of a few years. We are waiting to hear official comments on Fisker and their VL Destino and will get back to you, at the earliest.
