Fisker EMotion Promises 640 Kilometers Range and 260 KM/H Max Speed

Fisker, a hybrid car maker, was founded just over a decade ago, but quickly became a respected name in the automotive industry. Although the company filed for bankruptcy in 2014, and its assets went tothe Chinese from Wanxiang, its projects continued to be developed. They also include the EMotion electric car, which just leaked some new images.

The independent builder Fisker prepares to launch its first electric model in August, and has published three new teasers for it, while also providing some additional details.

Fisker confirmed that the maximum speed will be about 257 km/h. The structure of the model will be made of carbon fiber and aluminum. These materials are used for the rims too, which allowed a 40 percent drop in component weight. The carbon fiber is also used for front, side and rear elements.
Other features: the side mirrors, for example, conceal cameras that enable panoramic 360-degree views around the car, while additional cameras and sensors are cleverly hidden in the vehicle’s front and rear fascias.

Compared to the existing models on the market in this segment at the moment, we have to admit that what Henrik Fisker promises does not sound bad at all.
And that's not all, Fisker is hiding a surprise for us. One of the biggest problems faced by owners of electric cars is related to the time required for charging the batteries. Well, it looks like the Fisker EMotion will be able to run for 160 kilometers after spending only 9 minutes recharging. Total range is 640 km according to some, but it is unclear what the range will actually be for this electric model. The manufacturer is aware of these good figures displayed, saying about the EMotion's battery that it offers the highest energy density in the world.

In addition to exceptionally good autonomy, Fisker EMotion appears to be factory-fitted with a stand-alone mode, including a front-mounted Lidar sensor and the aforementioned video cameras instead of side mirrors.

The EMotion is expected to go on sale in 2019 with a starting price of 129,900 USD dollars on the American market. It will eventually go on sale elsewhere and the price tag will most likely be in the same price range.

Fisker plans to sell its EMotion online and through a strategically placed network of “Experience Centres,” very similar to Hyundai’s newly created stand-alone Genesis luxury brand.

Henrik Fisker, who serves as Chairman and CEO, said that “Fisker INC will spearhead a revolution in electric cars that will disrupt the electric vehicle market and change the world.”

He continued “Both the technology and the market are more mature now than when we first started out as pioneers in the electric vehicle industry, and our new vehicle will be the most innovative and cutting-edge electric car ever created.”

The official unveiling of the new Fisker EMotion is set for August 17th, but pre-orders can be placed starting June 30th.
Overall, it seems Tesla will have some competition and that can only be a good thing. Let's hope the model lands a hit!
