The new generation Kia Optima will debut at Frankfurt, in its European version.
Kia Optima is renewed this fall when the fourth generation hits. The European version will debut next month at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
In April, at the New York Auto Show, Kia presented the new generation Kia Optima for the North American market. After the launch of the new Kia Optima in North America, the debut in South Korea followed quickly. In that country this model is known as the K5.

The design is an evolution and not a revolution. The new Optima combines the bold lines of its predecessor with the optimal dose of elegance imposed by trends in the middle class limousines segment.

Sensitively longer (+1 cm) higher (+1 cm) and wider (+2.5 cm) than the model which is being replaced, the new Kia Optima offers its passengers a noticeably roomier cabin, especially in the rear seats. Also, the comfort level make a big step forward, with the recalibrated suspension for a smoother damping shocks.

More than 50 percent of the body structure was made of ultra - high strength steel, which translates into a torsional rigidity never before seen on a model bearing this Korean manufacturer's logo. Unique in the segment, the support of the panoramic roof is forged from CFRP (carbon fiber reinforced plastic) to reduce vibration and noise in the passenger compartment.

The trunk can reach a value of 510 liters with the seats raised, the characteristics of the new Optima family man accentuated by the arsenal of security technologies present; we have support systems like lane and traffic sign recognition, high-beam assistant and parking sensors, with stereoscopic cameras and car detection function.

In the United States, the new Kia Optima is available with two aspirated gas engines (2.0-liter GDI with 247 hp, and 2.4-liter with 285 hp), and a new 1.6-liter turbo engine that produces 180 hp at 5,000 rpm and 265 Nm of torque at just 1,500 rpm. In Europe, the offer will be complemented by a completely revised diesel unit displacing 1.7 liters and rated at 141 hp and 340 Nm of torque. For the first time, it can be mated to a DCT gearbox with dual-clutch seven-speed.

Compared to the version intended for the US market, the new Optima in the European version is distinguished by a front bumper that features six futuristic LEDs at the bottom, the bottom line of the mangle is little changed, and the bumper in the bottom side is just different. Inside, the differences are minimal.

In the future, the latest Kia Optima model will be available in gas and diesel versions, with a rechargeable hybrid version. Also, the fourth generation Kia Optima will provide easier handling for better driving comfort and improved transport system by reducing emissions.

The new Kia Optima is expected in showrooms by the end of the current year. A completely new model, which will be the series version of the Sportspace concept will be launched in 2016.
