Chevrolet officially introduced the sixth Camaro generation. After a series of teasers that Chevrolet has introduced since the beginning of the year, the American manufacturer has revealed details about the new model.

For the sixth Camaro generation the American manufacturer has chosen the path of evolution, especially in terms of design. Although the new model has a more aggressive look, at first glance, it seems just a facelift of the older generation.
But the work of engineers is hidden under the hood of the new Chevrolet model. The body was optimized in the wind tunnel for 350 hours and the total weight of the new model decreased by 90 kilograms.

Even if the current Chevrolet Camaro generation still looks fresh, General Motors did not hesitate to draw a more potent competitor to the Ford Mustang, which will establish a new level of performance in its segment. For the 6th generation of Camaro, recently presented at a special event in Detroit, those at Chevrolet used the aluminum platform taken from the Cadillac ATS. The body became stiffer by 28 percent, being more compact - the new Camaro is 57 mm shorter, 20 mm narrower and 28 mm shorter while the wheelbase has shrunk by 41 mm.

On the outside, the new Camaro is inspired by the previous generation facelift with some design ideas coming from the new Corvette Stingray, including sharp edges and body surfaces, as well as the optical blocks, accented by LEDs. The top version, Camaro SS, comes with a more aggressive front bumper, horizontal LEDs, four tailpipes and 20-inch wheels.

The most radical changes have taken place inside, where the new Chevrolet Camaro has received clever ideas, modern materials and a digital dashboard 8 inches in diagonal. MyLink infotainment system also has an 8-inch display. On the central tunnel we find a new selector of the driving regimes - Snow/Ice Tour, Sport and Track (only for the SS version).

The handbrake is electronic now. The climate control system is very ingenious with the the external kneecaps tappings being used to regulate the temperature - an original and interesting idea. The new Camaro also features "Spectrum Lighting" ambient lighting which provides 24 shades to choose from.

The basic version of the new Camaro will have under the hood the turbo 2.0-liter gasoline engine, with 4 cylinders, taken from the Cadillac ATS, which develops 275 hp and a torque of 400 Nm. With this engine the Camaro can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 6 seconds, while the extra-urban fuel consumption will reach a level of 7.8 l/100 km, so the new model is the most efficient Camaro in its history.

The V6 version receives a propellant of 3.6 liters, rated at 335 hp and 385 Nm of torque, which can be coupled to the new 8-speed automatic gearbox. For the true fans of American muscle cars the Camaro SS version will be available with a huge V8 LT1 under the hood, displacing 6.2 liters, taken from Corvette Stingray.

With this V8 engine, which develops 455 hp and 617 Nm of torque, the new generation Camaro SS is the most potent SS version in this muscle car's history which began on September 12, 1966, when the first generation was launched.
