First Mexican Supercar Just Launched: 285 HP And 695 Kilograms
|   Friday, July 31, 2015
Vuhl 05 is the first Mexican supercar and was delivered to a customer in the home country of the brand. The name of the company founded by brothers Iker and Guillermo Echeverria, is the acronym for "Vehicles of Ultra High Performance and Lightweight" which makes us think of the overseas version of the models created by Caterham.

The Vuhl 05 model is equipped with a 2.0-liter Ford EcoBoost engine and provides 285 hp, is centrally mounted, which ensures the model of only 695 kg (1,532lbs) a sprint from 0 to 96 km / h (0 – 60 mph) in 3.
seconds and a top speed of over 241 km / h (150 mph).

The performances may not seem impressive compared to some sports cars available in Europe and other global markets, but all this happens without a windscreen or side windows, which dramatically enhances the sensations perceived by the driver and passenger. The price of the first supercar launched in Mexico is about 94,000 dollars (59,995 pounds) in the United Kingdom, according to officials of the brand.

Currently, those from Vuhl are working to obtain the European individual approval, already having one copy with the right driving position that has already received such an approval.

The market in the UK was chosen as the first market approval outside of Mexico, because Vuhl is importing components from the United Kingdom.
The body is manufactured in Canada, but final assembly is done in Mexico. Also, 400 horsepower per ton is the power / weight ratio of Vuhl 05.
The model receives further lightweighting by a three-piece aluminum tub on top of the carbon bodywork. This piece of aluminum uses both extruded and honeycomb construction and a chrome moly subframe.

Also, the premiere of their series model was presented in the presence of personalities such as Sir Stirling Moss. Among Vuhl suppliers we have Ford, Multimatic and Michelin together with the Government of Mexico. Due to the fact that it has no windscreen or roof, the Vuhl 05 is exempt from certain safety regulations that apply including in the European Union, which includes standard safety tests conducted by EuroNCAP, but not the pollution standards applicable on the Old Continent.

The upcoming models manufactured by Vuhl will go all on the market in Mexico, but the brand is planning a global offensive, targeting markets such as USA, Middle East and Europe. By the end of the year, Vuhl intends to launch in the Middle East. This happens because there is already a dealer in that market, which currently sells Mexican models in Kuwait, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman and Qatar.

The car boasts similar performance to the Lotus, Ariel Atom and KTM X-BOW. In fact, the Mexican model is positioned between the Lotus Elise and Ariel Atom.
Also, The Mexicans will launch a special model called Vuhl Edition One which will compete with the Lotus Exige-S and even Porsche Boxster S.
The company is backed by 30 years of experience in motorsport and several awards for industrial design.
