First Look of the Citroen C1 Connexion
|   Tuesday, May 28, 2013
The Citroen C1 Connexion has finally been revealed and this car is special not just because of the way it looks or drives but due to the fact that this car was actually built on the social networking website, Facebook. Citroen had asked its online followers to design a vehicle based on the C1. Close to 24,000 applications were filed out of which the current design was chosen to be the winner.

To be frank, the Connexion looks like a ladybug with red side mirrors and door handles on an overall black exterior.
The designing team asked for 14 inch rims on the Connexion, which was finally approved along with the second demand of carrying forward the ladybug theme to the interior. Everything in the dash has been based on the ladybug and the Citroen obliged to most of the demands made by the creative team.

Some of the features thrown in by Citroen include front electric windows, air conditioner and remote central locking and these were based on the specifications of a VTR based model. Face bookers however did not have a say at the mechanical specifications of the car and Citroen incorporated a three cylinder, 1.0 liter 67 BHP displacing engine lifted off the C1.

As the proportions of both the C1 and the Connexion are similar, both the vehicles are mechanically similar. The engine has a pleasing note which makes city driving smooth. However, this car is strictly for use within the city perimeters as it soon fizzles out when brought to the open roads. Citroen has put enough power to make this vehicle a potent ride within the city, zipping through traffic, but raw power is missing in this vehicle.

The ride quality of the Connexion is stiff but not subtle and this may certainly feel monotonous after a while. There is nothing new about the motor and hence that does not draw much attention. The designing element is the prime attraction of the C1 Connexion and some of the minor details present on the C1 have been carried forward to the cabin of the Connexion.

The Connexion is not short of quality and refinement and this is what distinguishes this vehicle from the other low powered vehicles on road. The C1 Connexion is capable of rivaling the Hyundai i10, Volkswagen Up and the Fiat Panda. Even though these vehicles are of the segment, the Connexion probably has the lowest displacing engine in the lot. However, this is not enough to dismiss the C1 Connexion from the segment.

Priced at £10,170, the C1 Connexion has a top speed of 98 MPH while 0 – 60 MPH is reached within 12.3 seconds. The figures are far from impressive but are sufficient considering the engine capability. Average fuel efficiency is close to 65.7 MPG which is sufficiently high with CO2 emission limited to 99 g/km. The engine is mated to a five speed automatic transmission system which delivers linear power to the axle at the correct proportion. The Connexion doesn't seem like a vehicle designed on the internet.
