First Images Of The New Generation Mercedes-Benz E Class W213
|   Wednesday, January 06, 2016
Mercedes-Benz presented the first images of the new generation E Class. Although we are not surprised that the new model takes the lines from its brotherly range, we have to wish you good luck in trying to differentiate between C Class, E Class and S Class on the road.

As expected, we are not surprised to see the new E Class losing personality and individualism in favor of aesthetic harmonization at model range level. In fact, the "harmonization" might be a slightly gentle term for the final result of the operation which brings to a common denominator, from an aesthetic point of view, the base models of the brand.
Now, the C, E and S Class resemble each other like drops of water, the differences being made at the details rather than the personality.
It seems that Mercedes-Benz is following the path trod by Audi to create design samples with the same face at different sizes. A Russian matryoshka if you will.

The new E Class will be 43 mm longer than its predecessor, while the wheelbase grows by 65 mm. If we consider that the C-Class W205 increased by 80 mm in length over its predecessor, then we can notice a dimensional approach to the younger generation C Class and E Class. However, there is a noticeable difference between the two models – C Class W205 measures 4,686 mm long, while the E Class W213 measures 4,923 mm in length.

The reference point of the new Mercedes-Benz E Class inside is the dual display, covering both the board clocks and also the central classic screen area. However, for this time, Mercedes connects the two areas in a hi-tech panel, which is impressive in size and the quality and graphics solutions, according to representatives of the German brand. But, this solution is valid only on the top versions of the new E Class.

Each of the two display has a diagonal of 31.2 centimeters (12.3 inches) and a resolution of 1920x720 pixels covering all the graphics quality needs that we are experiencing. The screen in front of the driver, which practically replaces the board instruments can be customized to fit the taste of the driver through three settings: Classic, Sport and Progressive.

The new generation E Class will have a fairly large list of engines right from the start, some of them appearing in absolute premiere.
The most accessible version will be E200, which will be equipped with a turbo-aspirated four-cylinder engine and the most affordable diesel unit will be E220d, which will come with a new diesel engine.

Some rumors say that the new generation E Class will also receive a new turbocharged petrol engine with a displacement of 3.0 liters and 6 in-line cylinders. It is certain that there will be at least a plug-in hybrid version, the E350e, which will provide a combined power of 279 hp and 600 Nm of torque, but will also run over 30 km in pure electric mode in urban areas. On launch the engines will be coupled exclusively with the new automatic gearbox with nine steps, 9G-TRONIC.
