With the new Q7, Audi sets new standards for the premium SUV segment. The 325 kilograms lower weight and low center of gravity provide superior agility compared to its rivals. It is also the most spacious vehicle in the segment and is 26 percent more fuel efficient. The new Audi Q7 is expected to be presented at the Detroit Auto Show, which opens mid-January.

Although exterior dimensions have been reduced, the model provides significantly increased interior space for both passengers as well as for storage.
Assistance systems and the innovative infotainment system send the SUV at the head of the group. The engine is highly efficient and consumes on average 26 percent less fuel.

With a net weight of just 1995 kg, the new Audi Q7 is the lightest in its class. It weighs 325 kg less than the previous model. Its lightweight construction and body made of different materials along with a completely new chassis provide comfort and performance typical of an Audi sports car. Also, this results in excellent CO2 emissions values. Audi engineers have reduced the fuel consumption of the Q7 up to 28 percent (TFSI) and 23 percent (TDI).

The engines offer excellent value for the large SUV segment equipped with permanent four-wheel drive. The motorization 3.0 TDI with 200 kW (272 hp) and 3.0 TFSI with 245 kW (333 hp) propels the new Audi Q7 from 0 to 100 km / h in 6.1 seconds (TFSI), respectively 6.3 seconds (TDI). The V6 diesel engine consumes on average just 5.7 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers, corresponding to CO2 emissions value of 149 grams per kilometer.

Audi Q7 sets new standards regarding the operating concept, infotainment, connectivity and assistance systems. The second generation of the modular infotainment platform and virtual cockpit Audi are present on board. With the new MMI control all-in-touch unit with a generous touchpad the operation turns into child's play. Other attractive innovations include extensive services from Audi connect, Audi tablets for rear passengers and two sound systems with 3D audio. Another novelty is represented by integrating smartphones with Google Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The new Audi Q7 is one of the first vehicles to provide these functions.
The portfolio of new assistance systems is another impressive feature, including adaptive cruise control with traffic jam assistant.

The Audi Q7 e-tron quattro, which will be released soon, is the first plug-in hybrid from Audi with a diesel engine. It impresses with a power system of 275 kW (373 hp) and a torque of 700 Nm while representing the first diesel plug-in hybrid with permanent four-wheel drive in the premium SUV segment. The model consumes only 1.7 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers, corresponding to CO2 emissions value of less than 50 grams per kilometer. A fully charged battery is sufficient to cover a distance of 56 kilometers.

Very interesting is the fact that the new Q7generation will be launched on the European market at the same time with the new Volvo XC90, which means spring 2015. The BMW X5 was launched already in 2014, and a Mercedes-Benz ML already changed the market substantially. All in all, the large premium SUV segment will be interesting to watch.
