First Images And Details On Porsche's 911 Facelift
|   Monday, August 03, 2015
Porsche has released the first images and details of the iconic 911 facelift. The model will be exhibited in international premiere at the Frankfurt Motor Show, an event that will open its doors on September 17.

The facelift will include discrete aesthetic changes and a more powerful engine.
Always regarded as a symbol of the brand from Stuttgart, the 911 will benefit from an attractive range of changes designed to keep awake public interest until we get acquainted with the new generation, scheduled to debut in 2018.

The facelift from this autumn will bring a number of aesthetic changes already anticipated by the images published by Porsche with a prototype currently under testing in South Africa.

With a minor facelift at the level of the outward appearance, the 911 will retain most visual features. The first amendment was made to the optical blocks, where LED daytime running lights appear in the form of thin baguettes embedded in the front bumper, below the headlights. The light inside the taillights was also changed. The front grille has been slightly redesigned also, as well as the exhaust vents.

The Porsche 911 facelift will receive a new front bumper and a rear bumper, rebuilt after the exhaust pipe emplacement.
Outside, the Porsche 911 facelift incorporates modified spoilers and generous air intakes. In addition, we observe LED turn signals positioned in the mirror, and newly designed taillights.

The model has taken some of the features from the new Cayman GT4. Beyond changes on the outside, the 911 will receiv some novelties regarding the interior too.
One of the changes that highlighted the interior is the new steering wheel. It will have a switch that allows changing driving modes and transmission. It also is expected that multimedia systems will be upgraded by installing a larger screen.

Porsche officials say that 911 facelift will take the new infotainment system present on the Cayenne facelift.
While there are no many details about motorisations, those at Autocar claim that the basic model 911 Carrera version will benefit from a new turbo propeller, with six cylinders and a displacement of 3.0 liters, which will be able to develop about 370 horsepower. In the case of the intermediate version, the 911 Carrera S total power will be about 420 horsepower. Even in these conditions, fuel consumption and CO2 emissions will be reduced.

Regarding the engine, there are rumors that suggest a new turbo propeller with a displacement of less than three liters for the basic version. In terms of power, it will grow by about 20 to 30 horsepower for each version separately.

Version 991.2, as the model is known, will keep the range of six-cylinder engines, but they will have less capacity to lower consumption, while power will increase. This will be possible due to the increased power of the turbines.

Available at launch will be the following engines: 2.7 liter with 370 hp (Carrera), 3.0 liter with 420 hp (Carrera S), a 4.0 liter powerplant for the GT3, and a 3.8 liter with 600 hp (Turbo S).

The model will hit the market later this year, after launching in Frankfurt and will only be a transit version to the next generation of the Porsche 911.
