First Details On The Mercedes-AMG GT, A New Sports Car That Will Debut This Fall
|   Sunday, June 01, 2014
A new AMG high-performance model will celebrate its world premiere this fall at the Paris Motor Show, Mercedes-Benz announced. The new Mercedes-AMG GT sports car promises to delight fans around the world through design and agility.

According to the official release in which Tobias Moers, CEO of Mercedes-AMG GmbH, said that
"The new Mercedes-AMG GT shows that we will be positioning AMG more vehemently and aggressively than to date as a dynamic sports car brand.
The technological substance of the Mercedes-AMG GT underscores our high aspirations with regard to driving dynamics, agility and sportiness. Following the global success of the SLS AMG, the new GT is the second sports car developed fully independently by Mercedes-AMG. An initial exclusive look at the design of the interior shows what is in store for our customers: a GT sports car in its purest form."

Mercedes has released recently a few pictures of the new model's interior, giving us the opportunity to see the design that embodies emotion and sensuality like no other sports car. The uncompromising lines of interior components and authentic materials emanate clarity, while contrasting effects are used in order to help define the concept of modern luxury.

A dominant aspect of the new Mercedes-AMG GT's cockpit is the stylistic development of the central theme of "aviation design" typical of sports cars bearing the Mercedes-Benz logo. The board focuses on width, creating the impression of a powerful wing. The effect is supported by the four central vents, and the individual ones from the lateral extremes.

The materials used suggest that they were adopted directly from motor racing. Another design feature comes in the form of "AMG Drive Unit" checks, which are arranged just like the eight cylinders, in a V, thus supporting the strong impression given by the high-tech center console.

The interior of the Mercedes-AMG GT also offers an exclusive look on the best materials combined to evoke a state that simply exudes class. As such, the interior of the new Mercedes-AMG is enough to get you attached to the vehicle, even when it's standing still.

Designed to raise the pulse of the driver and front passenger even before the car is moving, the interior offers enticing sensations on superlative high dynamic performance that can be expected from the new GT when its engine, the V8 AMG, is brought to life.

According to rumors in the press, the new AMG GT will be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show (October 4 to 19) and is expected to have a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 that develops about 520 hp. The company could also introduce a basic version rated at 480 hp and a top version, Black Series, which would provide close to 580 hp.
Entry-level prices for the Mercedes-AMG GT are expected to start at an estimated threshold of 130,000 euros and continue upwards.
