Fifth Generation Opel Corsa OPC In 2016
|   Monday, February 16, 2015
The new Corsa OPC (Opel Performance Center) will have its world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show (March 5 to 15, 2015) and we can expect it in 2016.
Whether you are on the Green Hell track or in the urban jungle the new Opel Corsa OPC behaves very well on any type of terrain. Whether you are on Nürburgring or going through the rush hour traffic, the fastest member of the new Corsa generation combines athleticism led to the extreme, with a remarkable ability to withstand everyday use.

This vehicle, with a length of about four meters, impresses with its turbocharged engine which generates high torque, handling agility, and not least its appearance of a true sportsman. However, neither the spacious interior, well known in the Corsa, nor the superior comfort, have suffered.

The interior also creates a sporty ambience. The Recaro performance seats stand out, ensuring their passengers excellent side support, even in the most challenging sequence of corners.

Leather steering wheel, with flat bottom section, OPC gear shift knob, and sports pedals with OPC characteristic instruments configurations complete the interior. In addition, the drivers will continue to receive outstanding connectivity.

IntelliLink infotainment system will be optional and will bring on board the world of smart phones using Apple iOS and Android.
Under the hood, the supercharged petrol engine of 152 kW / 207 hp is just waiting to spring into action. The OPC engine displaces 1.6 liters and generates a maximum torque of 245 Nm, between 1,900 rpm and 5,800 rpm, and with the amplification function an additional 35 Nm are available when needed.

Power is transferred to the front wheels by means of a six speed transmission. The new Corsa OPC goes from 0 to 100 km / h in just 6.9 seconds. The car can reach a maximum speed of 230 km / h. Despite sporting ambitions, the fuel consumption reaches a respectable 7.5 liters per 100 kilometers in the mixed cycle, with CO2 emissions of 174 g / km.

To transfer power on the road in the best way possible, Opel engineers have teamed up with experts from Koni to develop innovative chassis damping. Thus, other chassis components were calibrated accordingly.

The Corsa OPC is sits 10 millimeters lower compared to its brothers from the range. An electronic stability system, the latest generation, allows selecting multiple operating modes for ESP and traction control (TC). In the Competition mode, for example, traction control is not active, while ESP gives the Corsa OPC a larger area of maneuver. Experienced drivers can even completely disable ESP when they want to push the car to the limit on the racetrack.

Drivers who want even more sporting spirit can resort to the performance package. It includes a mechanical multi-disc differential produced by Drexler, 18-inch wheels with Michelin tires with enhanced grip and a more sporty chassis configuration. In addition, the Corsa OPC performance package includes Brembo high performance disc brakes with 330 mm on the front axle, which ensures optimum deceleration.

With the help of performance package, the Corsa OPC is a true athlete who can handle both the urban jungle requests and those on track, and that in spite of the fact that engineers know the new Corsa OPC will spend more time in city traffic than racing. Regardless, engineers have ensured the Nürburgring Nordschleife normal tests can be withstood.
