Fiat Fullback Debuted At The Auto Show In Dubai
|   Monday, November 23, 2015
The Italians are moving towards the heavyweight category with the new Fiat Fullback. Typically, the Dubai Motor Show stands are full of luxury cars, supercars and tuned cars, and car premieres are a rarity here. Moreover, no one expected Fiat to provide a pick-up nicknamed Fullback, which is a clone of the Mitsubishi L200.
Courage or madness?
Fiat seems to focus on a new booming segment: that of pick-ups. The new Fiat Fullback is an Italian interpretation of the Mitsubishi L200.

Fiat began to show a great appetite for the pick-up segment; after seeing the Toro version in South America, we get acquainted with new Fullback at the Motor Show in Dubai. It seems that the Italians have felt the potential for their first mid-size pick-up in the Middle East.

If you are tempted to say that the new Fullback is pretty much just like another model in the segment, Mitsubishi L200, then you are not wrong at all. The new Fiat Fullback is actually a Mitsubishi L200 with a new logo with the interior and exterior design faithfully copied.

A deal to sell the Japanese model under the Italian brand has been signed between the companies since 2014. Fiat Fullback is a name inspired by the lateral quarterback position of rugby teams, and is ready to attack and claim its place in the segment of mid-size pickup.

The Fiat Fullback marks another milestone in the development of the brand, which since 1901 has been dedicated to reliability and innovation. The new Fullback is launched under the umbrella of Fiat Professional. This range benefits from an excellent reputation in the light commercial vehicle (LCV) segment. The new Fiat model attacks the medium pick-up segment, a segment which last year registered 23 percent of the total LCV sales in EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa).

It will be offered with the same body styles as the L200, which means single-cab, king cab, double-cab and a special "Chassis" version of will go on sale next year in Europe, Middle East and Africa.

All versions will have the same height and width of 1,780 mm - 1,815 mm and the wheelbase will measure 3,000 mm. Depending on the body type, the length is between 5155 and 5285 mm. The maximum load that can be carried is equal to 1,100 kilograms.

According to Italian officials, the pickup will be offered in three equipment versions and its sizes vary depending on the variant chosen: 5,155 mm to the Fullback Single Cab, 5,257 mm for the version with extended cab and 5,285 mm in the case of the double cab version.

Fiat Fullback has a load capacity of 1,100 kilograms and can tow up to 3,000 kilograms. It also impress with a turning circle of 5.7 meters, for rear-wheel drive variant, respectively 5.9 meters for four-wheel drive version.

In the Middle East and African countries the model will be sold with a 2.5-liter diesel engine with 110 and 178 hp, but also with a 2.4-liter gasoline engine that generates 132 hp. The gearbox will be a manual one with five reports.

In Europe, the available engine will be a turbodiesel made of aluminum and displacing 2.4 liters. It will generate 150 or 180 hp, depending on the version. The customers can opt for a manual transmission with six reports, or a five-speed automatic one.
