Ferrari unveils the chassis of the all new 2013 Ferrari Enzo
|   Friday, September 28, 2012
The all new Ferrari Enzo will be stiffer, lighter and stronger than ever before thanks to the latest carbon fiber technology used in building the chassis of the car, which has directly been extracted from Formula One technology, Ferrari has recently unveiled. The 2013 Enzo is being showcased at the Paris International Motor Show 2012 and the project has been overseen by Rory Byrne, Ferrari's former Formula One champion who has led the side to victory in more than 11 championships.

The carbon fiber used in the Enzo is top notch and has been derived specifically for the Enzo. In fact this type of hi tech carbon fiber has not been used by any other car maker for building any vehicle so far. Therefore, the Enzo can be said to be a league apart. By saying this Ferrari means that the materials used in the Enzo are far superior to that used by rival car makers Jaguar, Porsche or McLaren.

Ferrari has used different types of carbon fiber fibers and various forms of weaves and this has led to the formation of a new generation of carbon fiber used to design cars. The Enzo has the use of different types of carbon fiber and this helps the vehicle maintain its weight balance on different parts of the car.

The weight saving measures adopted by Ferrari on the Enzo is revolutionary and if successful, the same technology will be used on other high performance vehicles from Ferrari. Some of the other weight saving measures includes the use of integrated front and rear suspension and pick up points in the chassis in addition to the dash board and fuel tank protection which are all made of weight reducing materials.

The seat positions and battery placement in the Enzo has been altered and this will help the vehicle save space as well as reduce a considerable amount of weight. The roof has been attached by the use of bolts and simple molding and this has helped get rid of an additional 70 kg.

The narrow packaging has also helped the Enzo be sharper, swifter and more aggressive than ever before and the intimidating sound from the engine revs on the driver more than the vehicle. Optimizing the performance of the Enzo has been made possible within the past few years only as this technology is comparatively new. The project had begun in 2009 and is in its final stages of development.

The Enzo will feature the butterfly doors from its predecessor and the kerb weight on the final model of the car is set to be close to 1100 kg, which is surprisingly light for a super car. The Enzo will formally be showcased at the 2013 Beijing Motor Show and will be showcased to customers fall January 2013.

The 2013 Ferrari Enzo is set to be more fuel efficient and environment conscious than the present model and will be powered by a Formula One inspired drive train. The Enzo still features the V12 engine and the car is as powerful as ever.
