Ferrari SP 275 RW Competizione - The model Inspired by Ferrari's 275 GTB

Ferrari delights its customers with various unique designs, created in only one copy or in an extremely limited series. Every single model has behind it a special sort history too. This is also the case with the new Ferrari SP 275 RW Competizione inspired by the legendary 275 GTB / C Speciale (C comes from Competizione).

Created in 1965 in only three copies (plus a tests prototype), the Ferrari 275 GTB / C Speciale was a racecar that FIA did not want to approve for racing in the GT class, because the model was 10 percent lighter than the 275 GTB street version on which it was based, being 227 kg lighter than the latter, with an aluminum bodywork, plexiglas windows and elements of magnesium.
Angry, Enzo Ferrari threatened to leave the race in the GT category and FIA had to accept the car, instead they had imposed a ballast to balance the weight.

However, of the three models produced, only one in yellow, with chassis number # 6885, participated in the race.
The real success came at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the same year (1965). The car came first in the GT class and third in the overall standings behind two copies of Ferrari's 250 LM.

Interesting is the fact that under the bonnet of the 275 GTB Competizione is situated a V12 engine with a displacement of 3.3 liters (275 cc per cylinder, hence the name), taken from the Ferrari 250 LM that was centrally located. In order to compete in the race officially Ferrari announced a power of 300 hp, but the true figure was around 330 hp, hence the resounding success from Le Mans. It seems that Enzo Ferrari cheated not just in terms of weight, but with the power of this model, so that it would be successful.

In the coming years, the Ferrari 275 GTB / C Speciale gave way to new competition models, which were much closer from a technical point of view to the 275 GTB production model.

However, the legend has not been forgotten, with Ferrari creating a modern reinterpretation of the legendary 275 GTB / C Speciale called Ferrari SP 275 RW Competizione. Although it was based on the F12 Berlinetta model, produced in only one copy, it has received a completely new bodywork, with a design inspired by the legendary racing model. What stand out are the oblique incisions on the front and rear wings.
In an identical manner to the classic model, the hood, polished tank lid, the back with circular optical blocks and elongated spoiler, were interpreted in the shape of duck tail.

The 20-inch forged wheels are designed exclusively for this model. Under its hood is found a V12 engine with a displacement of 6.3 liters, taken from the model limited to only 799 units, namely the Ferrari F12 TDF, which develops 780 hp and 705 Nm of torque.

Bearing in mind that the engine and transmission are taken from the F12 TDF, we tend to believe that the dynamic performance will be close. Therefore, the new Ferrari SP 275 RW Competizione could accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in 2.9 seconds, from 0 to 200 km / h in 7.9 seconds and reach a speed of 340 km / h!
