Ferrari Brings the F12 Berlinetta on British Soil
|   Monday, June 10, 2013
Even though the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta is one of the fastest Ferraris on the road, it is not the best vehicle from the house of Ferrari. If the handling aspect of the car is considered, the 458 Italia scores way ahead of the Berlinetta. If you want to go on a long drive, the Ferrari FF will be the best option. The again if you are looking for speed and thrill, the LaFerrari is the ultimate hyper car from the company.

However, the F12 Berlinetta does exist and the vehicle has a few characteristics which make it eligible for driving and owning.
However, the major question which arises is that is the Berlinetta worth paying £240,000. The Berlinetta was for the first time driven on British soil and the V12 engine was the first thing that people notice about this vehicle.

The vehicle is powered by a 6.3 liter engine lifted off the Ferrari FF and displaces 660 BHP along with 730 ft lb of torque. The Berlinetta is based on a rear wheel drive platform and as a result the moment the driver steps on the gas, the Berlinetta shoots off the starting line. The steering is lightweight and this makes the vehicle easy to drive and handle.

The transmission system is an automatic and this smoothens out the power displacement. The Berlinetta is capable of accelerating from 0 – 60 MPH within 3.1 seconds while sporting a top speed measuring 199 MPH. The Berlinetta is also capable of accelerating from 0 – 124 MPH in a mere 8.4 seconds. However, if that happens you can be sure of the feds chasing you as you will have broken all the speed limits by then.

The interior is quite posh and nothing less is expected from Ferrari. The center console features a TFT screen with satellite navigation. The other infotainment system on the vehicle is top notch. The recently unveiled interior of the Lamborghini Aventador, inspired by Audi, is however a level higher and is more flamboyant than the Berlinetta although Ferrari loyalists have nothing to complain about.

The F12 has been made as aerodynamic as possible and the aero bridge design on the vehicle is quite efficient in its way of tackling wind pressure. The rear wheels channel the wind currents effectively around the front vents and this gives the car a smooth movement pattern. The Berlinetta is 70 kg lighter than the 599 and hence performance wise, this car is a killer.

When it comes to weight comparison, the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta feels the same as the 345 Italia however, performance wise, both vehicles differ. If you are looking for a family car you could opt for the Volvo V40 over the Berlinetta as paying the price difference is not worth the effort. On the other hand if you are looking for a four door performance machine, it is always best to go for the Ferrari FF. Ferrari has however built the Berlinetta in a very practical manner although there will always be better vehicles.
