Federal Government updates the Rules of Australian Designs
|   Saturday, December 06, 2014
As declared by the Federal Govt., there are a few updates occurred in two Rules of Australian Designs. This was done in order to make the rules and regulations to reach more towards the vehicle standards internationally.

Regional Development and Infrastructure Department's Assistant Minister Jamie Briggs said that the updates in ADR (Rules of Australian Designs) will bring surety about UN regulations updates in suitable ADR which can be done automatically.
This will allow making the today's technology to be available in vehicles of Australian consumers very quickly.

Briggs also elaborated that UN regulations should be automatically adopted to remove bureaucratic processes layers which are completely unnecessary to reduce the red tape even further for a long period. In this update, they have updated the clauses numbers 19, 46 and these two clauses relate to fog lamps at the front and rear visionary devices.

First update shows the testing methods which can be represented in a better way with real life conditions for front facing fog lamps. Second update shows introduction of latest types of rear visionary devices providing robust testing processes. Only these two updates are all alone sufficient to save as much as $1 million for vehicles all over Australia, as claimed by Briggs. This is because manufacturers will get the supplying options for approved UN materials as vehicles' certificates.

The reforms show the addition to Govt.'s recent decision which is to abolish any requirement of motor companies to use extended rear mudguard in new models. This sets the result in compliant industries to save $14.4 millions in manufacturing each year. Briggs also confirmed that Government is keen to develop UN regulations even more which should be applied keeping industries future in mind with territory and state agencies. In 2015, there may be even more announcements as suggested by Briggs.

Automotive Industries Federal Chamber's CEO Mr. Tony Weber has showed his pleasure to this move of Government to update ADR. He said that they will work keeping these rules in mind and as per the UN regulations all the steps will be taken. This ensures that Australians will continue to drive with even better safety conditions as time goes on.

It should be noticed that the ADR rules are technical standards of Australia's nationality regarding safety of vehicles, emissions and theft resistance as well. All the technical requirements of ECE regulations are used by only ADRs. Type approvals are not used of ECE system, rather ADRs are ruled by administered as per a self certificating system such as United States where manufactures don't need government approved homologation or testing.

According to ADRs, Govt. certifies the vehicles and regulates their components to comply with other provisions of each applicable ADR counted from the manufacturing date. There is a compliant plate in each vehicle which shows the above certificate. Hence these two updates in ADRs prove that how keen they are in keeping a safe and environment friendly vehicle driving experience for all citizens of Australia. Stay tuned to know further about ADRs and other valuable updates.
