Fans Shocked as Jaguar now Available as Hybrid
|   Saturday, September 08, 2012
You're never shocked to hear giant motor companies turning all their cars into hybrids. It was never a shock when the English automaker introduced an entire line of hybrid SUVs and cars in the brand but Land Rover now brining the Jaguar 200-CX75 as a hybrid was just a shick to many racing enthusiast.

Wondering if the car can really perform just as well many drivers are anxiously waiting to see if Jaguar can really pull something like this off. Bob Joyce, the engirneering director at Jaguar Land Rover, assured the public that the car will not hit production line unless it meets performance standards.
The product is a result of the company trying to introduce clean and efficient power for the public. Even the car is set to be available in the market in 2014 and no official word has been announced for how well the car is said to perform, the company has already managed to sell 200 units of the car. Clearly they are set to produce it in volume but it won't be easy, especially for a car priced in the range of $1.1 million - $1.4 million.

The car has many competitors at similar standards, much like the Porsche 918 spyder which is concienently priced at $800,000 but the car is not about performance or pleasure. Many wealthy collectors will simply purchase the car as symbol and as part of a credible collection. Purchaser are more motivated by what the vehicle stands for and the message that it carries with it.

The performance targets as the director is setting are nothing less than impressive. A hybrid car going from 0-60mph in less than 3.0 seconds and from 0-100mph in less than six. The car made it's debut in the 2010 Paris auto show and really created a hype in the market. Of course the actual car will be much more beautiful than the concept model they placed in the Auto Show Exhibition, it still was enough to generate 200 orders for the manufacturer.

The original design included a front and rear wheel drive and that is going as planned, however there was one major change in the model. The previous concept model of the Jaguar 200 included range extenders that were small turbines. The idea was not applicable and the company decided to change the design and include a gas engine. The company is aiming high and is right on track in it's mission to provide the market with something that is of high-output but still in a smaller engine size. The car has a 1.6 litre engine that is said to provide nearly 10,000rpm and 500 HP.

How is that possible? It's all thanks to the supercharger that provides torque for the engine when under 5000rpm and also turbo spooling. Both of these are gasoline injected systems. It seems gasoline will play a major part in providing the car it's true power but that is how it can be and nothing less.
