Exagon Furtive-eGT promises an amazing performance for an electric powered car

French sports car designers and auto racing team, Exagon Motors has designed a powerful performer, entitled Exagon Furtive-eGT supercar. Though the car is nearly a decade late in its schedule, its feature gives you a feeling that it was worth waiting. Exagon has successfully made a reputation in the automobile market for revolutionising the performance expectation from electric cars. Yes, the Exagon is an electric powered car and it shrugs off the low expectation from electric powered engines by designing this sports car.

Exagon has joined hand with Tesla Motors and the outcome was an electric powered supercar, the Furtive e-GT supercar. This car made its concept debut in the 2010 Paris Motor Show but the functioning version was launched at the international Geneva Motor Show, which was held in March 2013. This is actually a four-seat electric sports car which calls for a good engine performance as most sports cars from other esteemed manufacturers settle with two-seat models.

When it comes to an electric car, the power unit is the biggest concern an especially when it is a sports car, it demands amazing power provision. This French auto racing team chose one of the best electrical and electronics engineering provider to power its car. A pair of 148 kW Siemens electric motors produce a combined wattage of nearly 300 kW which is supplied to the wheels with minimum amount of power loss. It produces a 516 Nm of torque and power is fed to this supercar's rear wheels through a three-speed transmission system.

It was a very important criterion for its manufacturers that its chassis should be very light weight. They had to put every effect to reduce its weight of the car as they always had to consider the fact that it was electricity powered. They found the solution with a carbon fibre chassis with an engine made of light aluminium to reduce the weight considerably. Exagon and Tesla motor's engineers left no stone unturned to full proof the performance of this car. They demand that it has a whooping pick up of 0 to 100 km/hr in only 3.5s.

Its power supply is another concern as it requires high capacity batteries to give it a good mileage. Its battery was developed by Saft, a French Battery manufacturer who designed this battery pack for this model. It has a capacity of 53 kWh which enables it to run a long distance of 320 Km on full charge. Exagon demands that the Furtive's battery pack which is basically a lithium-ion battery has a very long life and it can hold charge of 80% even after 3000 recharge cycle.

The design of this car is simple without any heavy body work, which is common in most first stand models. Its interior has a unique style quotient of its own, more like its exterior design. With an amazing top speed of 250 Km/hr, which is very high for an electric car, its price is tagged somewhere near half a million dollar.
