Elon Musk Says An Autobahn Specific Model S Is On Its Way
|   Thursday, October 31, 2013
Elon Musk, the founder of Tesla, wants to offer the public in Germany a Model S calibrated by Teutonic needs. That is why the electric sedan will be modified to achieve higher speeds on the Autobahn.

After the triumphant launch in Norway, launching that marked the debut on the European market, the Tesla Model S has arrived in Germany. The largest car market on the Old Continent has met the American model with reticence, perhaps because the audience comes with a series of claims that Elon Musk promises to solve.

Musk appeared at a conference in Munich and revealed that plans to develop a slightly faster version of the Model S. Currently, the Model S can reach 209 km / h. The Germans will soon see a Model S that will be well suited to the famous highway with no speed limit.

Musk did not give details about the new software update planned for the Model S, but it is likely that improvements will be free for new and existing customers.
Also in the conference in Munich, Elon Musk has revealed that Germany will be the second country outside of the United States going by the number of charging stations for electric vehicles.

In the two months of presence on the German market, Tesla managed to sell only 98 units Model S. The American car was overtaken by other electric models such as the Nissan Leaf and Smart ED. Smart successfully sold 146 of its electric cars in Germany just in September alone.
With a 0-100 km/ h time of 4.2 seconds plus an electronically-limited max speed of 209 km / h, the Tesla Model S is the fastest electric car present on the world's market.

"I was just driving the Model S on the Autobahn, on one of the unrestricted sections. It was a lot of fun," said Musk at the conference. "But for Buyers of the Model S, we'll offer a free, optional high-speed tuning."

"If you're someone who likes to ride at the top speed on the Autobahn then we will tune the car. We'll do a custom tune of the car to make it feel really great at top speed." He continued saying "In most other parts of the world, driving at over 200 kilometres per hour, you don't have to worry about that."

Naturally, when driving at or above the Model S' regular top speed isn't going to result the same range offered at much lower speeds. But in order to solve this issue, and to back up what Musk calls Tesla's "third largest market after the U.S. and China," Musk declared a huge rollout of Supercharger stations all over Germany.

6 Supercharger stations are already being built in Germany, and Musk promised that before March 2014 is over, over half of the German population will be in range of a Supercharger. Finally, by the end of 2014, Tesla wants to have the entire country covered.
