Driving the Latest Citroen C4 e-THP 130 on Road
|   Saturday, March 22, 2014
PSA's latest three cylindered turbocharged 1.2 liter petrol engine has been showcased for the very first time, underneath the new Citroen C4 e-THP 130. The C4 as we know as Citroen reply to Ford's Focus and this rivalry has taken both companies to develop newer technology. Customers have benefitted over the years, with inclusion of new models from rivals. However, these vehicles have managed to stick out from the crowd, for quite a long time.

Citroen has launched and re-launched their C4 various times in the past, most recent of which being in 2012.
This vehicle was updated with a new line of engines back then, while considerable options were made available too. Two years and 25,000 hours of testing later, we get to ride their latest C4 – the e-THP 130 – and this vehicle clearly does not disappoint.

In one word, this vehicle is impressive right from the word go and you will feel its pure energy and will to drive, every second of your trip. We are quite satisfied with what we have on offer and are happier about the fact that Citroen will be inserting it into their next C3 lineup that is due for March 2015. Their latest lineup of three cylindered engines is doing well across global markets and this has led to various engineering developments.

The C4 sounds happy on tarmac although there is nothing specific to comment about here apart from refinement. However, when road conditions worsen, the C4 finds it difficult to cope up to situations. Body roll starts creeping up when you least expect it and this could lead to mishaps if you lose focus. Traction Control is available as an option and this increases confidence in this vehicle.

Power displacement is spread out equally across a huge bandwidth, while low range, mid range and high range torque is equally distributed. 95 percent of total power is available near the 1500 – 3500 RPM mark and this is perfectly suited to your city driving and freeway driving needs. You will never need to reach the red line as power displacements will be sufficient at mid range too. The vehicle however begs to be revved.

Hence, if you can resist the urge to push it to its maximum capacity, try your best. Engine's mechanical losses have been kept under control as much as possible and Citroen's new engineering division deserves complete credit points for that. Adjusting the crankshaft has brought about major changes, while a well lubricated timing chain works wonders too.

French car makers have a reputation for poor engineering works as compared to their German rivals. However, all this is about to change with the French being interested in advanced engineering as well. The rise of PSA has proved to the world that French cars have potential too and can take over global competition. If you are looking for a budget vehicle with a sporty edge, the Citroen C4 e-THP 130 is the vehicle to g for, as it costs an affordable £17,990.
