Detroit Electric would start production of SP:01 by the end of 2014

Detroit Electric reveals the production design of its electric sportster SP:01 which would hit production in late 2014 in UK and would be delivered to first customers within the first quarter of 2015. This two-seat version was first premiered in at Shanghai Motor Show, 2013 as a prototype.

Detroit Electric planned for a release of SP:01 in Asia and Europe formerly, but now has planned to launch it in 2015 on a global platform. There are some new trims made to its final design which include diffuser on its underbody and some trivial changes to its air intakes up on front.


SP:01 has a lithium-ion battery pack which provides 1802 miles and has new protective covering to safeguard cells in case of any accident. According to company, this electric sportster would be able to reach 60 mph from a standstill in just 3.7 secs and would deliver a top speed of 155 mph.

The company has stated taking orders of customers for this new car and would deliver them their SP:01 for a price of £100,500, approximately.
