Details on the New Insignia Country Tourer 2018

Insignia Grand Sport and Insignia Sports Tourer, Opel's new range peaks, had its world premiere at Geneva and already the duo is becoming a trio. Like the previous generation, the Insignia will be available as a Country Tourer.

The new Opel Insignia Country Tourer impresses with the same qualities as its brothers Grand Sport and Sports Tourer – it's spacious and significantly lighter than the previous version, thanks to a completely new architecture.

In addition, it has a charm of its own: black armor protection all around, and silver shielding, front and rear, give the newcomer a rugged look.
Customers who prefer a more individualized vehicle can personalize it with the Opel Exclusive concept, choosing, for example, their favorite color.
The Opel Insignia Country Tourer performance is provided by a broad portfolio of propulsion systems, including a completely new diesel engine. In addition, the newcomer will be available with a new automatic transmission with eight gears and latest generation four-wheel drive. The ground clearance increased by twenty millimeters, with innovative four-wheel drive with torque vectorization, and new rear suspension with five branches, providing the Insignia Country Tourer model the most sophisticated system in its class.

Instead of the traditional rear differential, which equally distributes torque to the rear wheels, the Opel Insignia Country Tourer is equipped with two multi-plate clutches with electronic control, which allows the sending a more precise and tailored power level to each wheel regardless of road or weather conditions.

To counteract the tendency to understeer in tight corners addressed at higher speeds, the system sends more torque to the rear wheel from the outside edge, according to acceleration and steering maneuvers. This happens without the additional intervention of the driver and in a split second, therefore stabilizing the vehicle.

The FlexRide improved chassis offers the basis for a driver's optimum performance, depending on the situation. It adapts damping, steering, throttle response and gear shift points (on automatic transmissions) independently or according to "Standard", "Sport" or "Tour" modes which can be selected by the driver. The new central software, "Drive Mode Control", is the adaptive chassis' heart. It continuously analyzes information provided by sensors and settings, recognizing the individual driving style.

To increase the load volume to 1,665 liters, 130 liters more than the previous version, the new Insignia Country Tourer can be ordered with the option of folding rear seats, in 40/20/40 ratio, for more flexible configurations of the load space. The rear seat can be folded completely by pressing a button in the trunk.

The latest IntelliLink systems compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto provides exceptional entertainment and connectivity. Smartphones can even be charged wirelessly and can be easily integrated into the infotainment system. The vehicle is also equipped with the revolutionary assistant service and connectivity Opel OnStar.

It is equipped with a broad portfolio of services, from automatic crash response, up to assist in the case of vehicle theft. Two new features in OnStar's portfolio are hotel reservation service and looking for a parking space. Both services are based on OnStar advisors, which can book hotel rooms and/or search for suitable parking.

The new Opel Insignia Country Tourer can be ordered beginning in June, will premiere at the Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA, September 14 to 24, 2017) and will reach showrooms shortly afterwards.
