Decision of struggling Honda motors with Civic launch in India
|   Thursday, July 12, 2012
People have become selective about the purchase of car. Even if the Indian market has shown a positive trend towards sedan, Honda motor is still backward. Even after a stylish look and good quality of engine, Honda civic has become a victim in Indian market. This effect can also be due to the launch of new vehicle by the Japanese car maker. It is true that the ninth generation of Civic or avatar has satisfied maximum customers residing in Australia and US but customers in Indian market did not provide a positive response to the same.

The company have decided to launch new Honda civic in other international countries such as Thailand. Since they are doubtful about sales impact of the car in Indian market, Honda motors have decided to drop the idea of launching this ninth generation of car. The company has signified that, the Honda civic is really expensive and will not be affordable for many Indian customers. Another reason for dropping the ideas of its launch is due to its petrol running engine. This car will not be available with diesel variance.

For Indian customers, two things would be really important to consider. First one is the price of vehicle and the other is its fuel charge. Even if Indian customers can buy a car with a high rate, they would hardly run the car if the petrol prices does not go down. Maximum people in India will not think of buying the cars that operates on petrol engine. Honda Siel has also said that, the company had made a reimbursement with regards to the cost involved in developing and supplying some parts for the new car which was supposed to be launch in India.

As per a reply to ET queries, Honda did not make any commitment for the launch of the ninth generation Honda civic in future. It seems he is actually doubtful about the fact. The Honda civic has been launched in Indian market in the year 2006. Since then the car has actually become the leading car in the market. But as soon as petrol price has increased, the car manufacturing company have viewed a negative turn with regards to the sale of such cars. Civic has also suffered from decrease in sales as soon as new model in the car industry have launched.

The last year synopsis shows that, the sales of car have shed off with half unit as compared to the previous year. It was just 2296 cars sold in the year. This was just one fourth of the value of Toyota Corolla sales. Since almost all the variety of cars in this segment is available with a diesel engine except Honda civic, the sale of Honda civic has considerably done down. Even the new car launched in the market with a very less price tag has forced Honda to drop its decision about the launch of the new civic car in Indian market. The model of civic will be available in 13-19 lakhs which would be really too much for Indian crowd.
