Daimler Trucks Reveals The New Freightliner Cascadia
|   Wednesday, September 21, 2016
A trucker’s work requires much effort and concentration, and with every passing year the truck manufacturers tend to make life easier for lorry drivers with different systems and technologies. With the exceptional Future Truck 2025 concept Mercedes-Benz wants to raise the activity of the driver’s truck to a completely different level!

The folks at Daimler Trucks, which includes Mercedes-Benz Trucks and FUSO but also Freightliner Trucks reveal the new flagship of the latter - Freightliner Cascadia.

The truck has an imposing aspect, characterized by an aerodynamic cabin with futuristic design and lots of LED that illuminates through the paint directly. The interior is no less spectacular.

With the exception of the radiator grille, the front bumper, optical blocks and aerodynamic wings to the rear wheels, the new truck is virtually identical to the world's first autonomous truck – the Freightliner Inspiration.

Although the new truck was developed by 800 engineers for 5 years, thanks to the investments of 300 million dollars, it actually is just a facelift of the model with same name, produced in 2007. However, after the facelift the Freightliner Cascadia has become more attractive, impressive even!
According to Daimler Trukcs the new Freightliner Cascadia is the most effective Freightliner in history, with fuel consumption 8 percent lower than its predecessor.
It is also the most “connected” Freightliner truck, with Detroit Connect Analytics connectivity that enables remote checking of technical condition, and being the safest Freightliner truck in history too.

This is because of the full-LED headlights that offer exceptional visibility at night and the Detroit Assurance 4.0 optional package that includes Active Brake Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Departure Warning safety systems.

The new Freightliner Cascadia is powered by D13 or D15 Detroit diesels with outputs starting at 400 hp and torque of 2,373 Nm in the most effective version.
By the way, the maximum efficiency was achieved largely thanks to optimized aerodynamics, but also due to the optional aerodynamic kits, Aero and Aero X, which further enhance the aerodynamics of the truck.

The cab interior has been completely redesigned, getting a new board a multifunction steering wheel, multimedia system, connectivity for the mobile devices, LED ambient lighting, microwave and even a 26-inch TV!
The driver has four displays, two of which are working like rear view mirrors. The third display shows the clocks and other vital information about the truck and the fourth is actually a removable Samsung tablet, which has a role of a multimedia system.

The passengers will feel like in a first class plane when riding the truck, but the driver's seat does not stray too far from that feeling either!
It can rotate 45 degrees so that the driver can take a more comfortable position even while driving. But how would you drive the truck if the seat is located on the diagonal?! In fact, the truck will drive itself in fully autonomous mode, thanks to its Highway Pilot! In autonomous regime, the external LEDs change color from white to blue.

“This is the new frontier when it comes to fuel efficiency and there are still improvements to come,” declared Martin Daum, chief executive of Daimler Trucks North America.
