Dacia Motors have finalized its launch plans for the Duster SUV and the Sandero super mini in the United Kingdom and the vehicles are expected to be available post January 2013. Joining the lineup will be the Sandero Step Way, which is expected to be unveiled post May 2013. The Sandero and Duster are currently available for booking and the first badge is expected to reach customers fall 2013. The vehicles have been placed at the bottom of the price range in their respective segments and as a result the market viability is high at the moment.

The Sandero Stepway is a crossover vehicle of the hatch and it has a bigger wheel base apart from featuring minor cosmetic changes such as a chrome grille up front, a wider wheel arch, roof bars and rear and front scuff plates. The vehicle has also been increased by 40 mm hence enhancing ground clearance. The vehicle will be powered by two distinct drive train options, a three cylinder 0.9 liter petrol engine and a 1.5 liter diesel alternative.

The petrol unit emits 125 g/km of CO2 and returns 52.3 MPG while the diesel engine does 70.6 MPG while emitting 105 g/km CO2. The Step Way is available in two different trim options – Laureate and Ambiance. While the Ambience features a dual toned bumper, metallic finish side mirrors, Bluetooth and a dedicated audio device, the Laureate features a special air conditioning system with climate control, electronic side mirrors, semi automatic windows, Media Nav, rear parking sensors, Sat Nav, Direct audio streaming apart from Bluetooth connectivity.

Both the Sandero and the Stepway feature enhanced safety features and ABS and ECS are a standard on all models. Some of the other common features are emergency brakes, daytime running lights and front and rear air bags for driver and passenger safety. The Sandero Step Way starts from a base price of 7,995 Pounds and the top end model costs 10,795 Pounds. The vehicle is available with a basic warranty of over 60,000 miles or three years which can be extended to 5 years or 60,000 miles and seven years or 100,000 miles for an extra cost of 395 Pounds and 850 Pounds respectively.

The Sandero is famous for it's distinctively looks and the Stepway carries forward the genes too. The vehicle has a fresh new appeal and is a great buy for the budget conscious segment. The Step Way provides complete value for money and Dacia seems to have done a lot of thinking before designing the Stepway. The four cylinder, 1.5 liter diesel engine displaces 1598 cc while producing 64 kW @ 5500 RPM and 128 NM of torque @ 3000 RPM. The Sandero Step Way is capable of accelerating to 100 MPH in 11.5 seconds and sports a top speed of 175 MPH. However, Dacia could have injected more power into the heart of the vehicle and the vehicle does suffer from a bit of under steer at times.
