Safety is of prime importance to all automobile manufacturing companies. There are certain guidelines, a set of rules and regulations to abide by while manufacturing a car and all companies must follow them. In addition to that, some companies add some additional security features to make the cars and more fit for the road.

More and more advanced security features are being invented day by day. Some of the security features are passed by the necessary authorities and are featured in some car models, while others don't make it.
Every security feature must be publicised on a good platform to draw proper attention, and without proper showcasing, a good security feature may be lost in heaps of others.

The Geneva Motor Show is a good place to showcase the new security measures. Every year new car models from all major automobile manufacturing brands from all parts of the world is showcased in this show. Along with the new cars, some new technology is also showcased and promoted in the Geneva Motor Show.

The Geneva Motor Show 2013 was no exception. It witnessed a lot of new good releases from some of the leading automobile manufacturing brands of the world. Along with the cars, some new concepts and technologies were also showcased in the event.

One of the major technologies that were showcased in this year's Geneva Motor Show was a security feature. It is a cyclist detection system that has been released by Volvo and was introduced by Doug Speck, the senior Vice president of the company, and it was well accepted and appreciated.

The cyclist detection technology, although not entirely new, is quite unique. It is in fact an extension of the existing obstacle detection and auto braking system that has already been in existence. Some changes have been made to the existing technology to make it fit for cyclist detection.

This is a very significant extension of the existing obstacle detection and auto braking system. As per the existing data, more than 50 percent of the accidents regarding the cyclists that results in casualties is by collision with a car. So if this new technology is included in the cars then it can prevent a lot of accidents, and as a result, a lot of casualties.

There have already been many amendments to the obstacle detection and auto braking system. The system has already been extended to pedestrian detection and auto braking. This amendment has been of great help for the company.

The authorities have made a statement that all the cars that are equipped with the pedestrian detection and auto braking system will now also include the cyclist detection and auto braking system. This is of prime significance and marks the start of a new, safer era of car driving.

The authorities of the company have also promised that they are going to extend the technology even more. They are going to add more and more objects in the list of obstacles in an attempt to make the roads safer.
