Current Generation Seat Ibiza Gets A Final Facelift
|   Wednesday, June 03, 2015
SEAT Ibiza received in Barcelona one last restyling of the current generation, which was launched in 2008. The new facelift of the fourth Ibiza generation is a farewell one meant to refresh the offer while waiting for the new generation.

Ibiza's previous restyling was launched in May 2012 at the Geneva Motor Show, while the current facelift came to the Motor Show in Barcelona. Ibiza is the most popular name for the Iberian manufacturer being introduced into production in 1984 and having over four million units sold.
At that time Ibiza was the first car developed from scratch by Seat, despite the collaborations with Italdesign, Karmann and Porsche, and its name was taken from the Spanish island of Ibiza.

Updating the stylistic range brought the 4th Ibiza generation new front optical blocks with LED daytime running lights, new wheel rims models, and interior updates. We are talking about an extensive offer of 16- and 17-inch rims, available in several models, and now customers have at their disposal new customization packs in the form of colors packages that allow the combinations of colors and wheels in two shades. The inside enjoys a new steering wheel, new ventilation slots, updated board clocks, a new multimedia unit and softer materials for certain areas.

Restyling the Ibiza range brings new technologies to the Iberian subcompact's equipment such as driver fatigue monitoring system and Multi-Collision Brake system that prevents accidents that may occur after the first impact between two vehicles. The multimedia system is the latest generation unit in the Volkswagen group's portfolio, now bearing Mirror Link integration and all the functionality related to this technical solution. The SEAT Sound System is also new, now equipped with six speakers and subwoofer, and comes complete with an amplifier and individual settings.

The revolution has occurred under the hood of the model. The Ibiza facelift gets new turbocharged TSI petrol units. The base model is now equipped with an aspirated engine displacing 1 liter and rated at 75 hp, and the supercharged version is available in two power levels - 95 hp and 110 hp.

The maximum torque for the turbo versions reaches 160 Nm and 200 Nm, while the 95 hp model boasts a fuel consumption of 4.1 l / 100 km. Both engines are combined under the name EcoTSI.

Also new is the 1.4 liters EcoTSI rated at 150 hp. Mounted for the first time on the Seat Ibiza, it consumes just 4.8 l / 100 km, and thanks to ACT technology, it allows partial deactivation of two or four cylinders at low speeds.

On the diesel area, the Ibiza facelift sees average fuel consumption figures indicate 3.4 l / 100 km. The Start-stop system is standard on all versions.
The market penetration of the new SEAT Ibiza facelift is scheduled for this autumn and the next generation release date has not been announced. Among the rivals of the Iberian model are vehicles like the Skoda Fabia, Volkswagen Polo, Mazda2, Hyundai i20, Opel Corsa, Toyota Yaris, Ford Fiesta, and many other subcompact models.
