Could a Halo Car help Infiniti?
|   Tuesday, February 05, 2013
The answer is YES. At least that is was the head of Infiniti F1, namely Andreas Sigl, believe. He also said that the Halo Car could close the gap between F1 and Infiniti. But many don't see with the same eyes Andreas Sigl's vision. To close the gap? The distance between F1 hi-tech and the rest is like between Acura and a cow. Anyway, the main idea is for Infiniti to offer a super car that will link them to the team they sponsor in F1, Red Bull Racing.

What we now for a fact right now is that a version of Nissan GT-R with some Infiniti logo on it is out of the question. Furthermore, peeps from Nissan on one hand and Sigl on the other hand, didn't reached a decision about what the future Halo Car from Infiniti should look like. An option could be the concept Infiniti Emerg-E with the range-extending engine placed in the middle. The sport car concept saw the public lights for the first time in March, at Geneva's auto show and was developed in association with Lotus. Also the Emerg-E is related to the model Evora.

So hold your breath because later this week Infiniti will show a noisy example for the first time within the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Since Geneva there were many prototypes built but let's see what Infiniti brings this time. Many from Nissan are skeptical that the Emerg-E can deliver the appropriate performance for a Halo Sports Car. Due to this fact, even if this prototype will do any progress is not nailed and confirmed for production.

The Essence is the concept from 2009 at which Infiniti looks first for an alternative. Some gossips from inside the company said that parts of the Essence are on the table even after three years from his debut, but nothing official is coming from Andreas Sigl about the subject. It's very likely that the new car will not incorporate the V6 twin turbo engine and an electric one, because we all know a V6 engine is not suitable for a Halo Sports Car.

The funny fact is that Infiniti may opt for a third choice: deliver more than one sports car. The Emerg-E concept looks good for the green image of the company, but the Essence is a way more suitable design for "the connection" between F1 and the future Halo Sports Car Andreas Sigl talked about.
