Citroen Unveils the Citroen DS4 DSport HDi 160
|   Monday, July 15, 2013
The Citroen DS4 was always known for its high revving diesel engine mated to an automated transmission system. However, the latest DS4 DSport features a turbo charged 2.0 liter diesel engine mated to a six speed automatic transmission system lifted off the DS4 DStyle. The DS4 is more performance oriented as compared to its smaller cousin, the DS3 although the DS3 scores high on the styling front.

People think that the designing on the DS4 is wrong, but it is a very compact yet practical car in all respect.
The front of the vehicle may seem to be quite big as compared to the rest of the vehicle and this does give it a very nose heavy look, but overall, the DS4 is not ugly. The sportier engine is the biggest addition made to the DS4 and Citroen deserves credit for the initiative.

The sense of urgency and the responsiveness of the accelerator are beyond the scope for many super minis in its segment and give the DS4 the characteristic properties which it needs. The DS4 is a ferocious yet practical machine and can be used for urban driving as well as freeway cruising. However, the six speed transmission system proves to be a minor disappointment as a seven or an eight speed transmission would have done a better job of distributing the power delivery.

Overall, power displacement is quite linear and the shifting is very smooth. Overall build quality is quite impressive when you consider the fact that this is a Citroen and not a standard premium segment German car maker, the likes of which include Audi, BMW and Mercedes Benz etc. The seats are quite comfortable yet sporty and provide decent lumbar support.

The ride is low and this gives the vehicle a definite stiffness which gives more confidence to the driver. Ride quality has not been compromised on though. The DS4 is just as comfortable as it used to be and the seating arrangements and position has also been enhanced. The steering column is well balanced and smooth and driving is easier due to the adjusted ride height of the vehicle.

Citroen is offering customization options on the DS4 as well which includes customized rims and color schemes on the ride. The instrument cluster is new and refined and is sporty but neat. The important gauges are present while it does not look as though it has been randomly stuffed. Priced at £24,840, the base model of the Citroën DS4 DSport HDi 160 is quite a bargain.

Then large wind screen up front is a positive addition made to the car and this enhances the poor visibility earlier. The DS4 provides a rewarding drive experience and the car has never felt this good before. Citroen however needs to recuperate in the fields it has failed and a new transmission system would be highly recommended. The four cylinder diesel engine however is a wonderful addition and the raw power displaced by the motor manages to grab attention every time.
