Citroen Reveals China Bound DS 5LS
|   Wednesday, December 25, 2013
Citroen has showcased the latest DS 5LS, its flagship model for China. Even though this vehicle is strictly not for sale outside China, it could move to other Asian markets eventually. This vehicle measures 4.7 meters and is one of the longest vehicles from Citroen today. This vehicle will compete with Audi's A3 saloon and should be a hit in China.

China currently has the DS 3, 4 and 5 on sale while DS is a reputed brand in the country. Citroen has more than 50 stores in this region and hence promotions should not be much of a worry.
Citroen was one of the first Westerners to enter China and they are currently one of the largest selling companies there. Citroen cabs are a common site in various major cities across China.

The DS 5LS features some very common DS design elements on its front and rear ends while its DS Wings along with the dual chromed headlamps are based on their original classics. Cars with large wheel bases are quite common in China as people there look for an element of class and style. Longer cars are a symbol of prosperity across the globe and the situation is similar in China too.

Luxury and authentic materials on their vehicles make Citroen a reputed brand while comfort is top priority on every build. Various models are available while 1, 2 and 3 level upholstery is available on different segments. Leather however is a common upholstery material while range topping variants have top quality semi aniline leather. Air ionizer is a special addition on the range topper and this is a very important addition on vehicles in China as it has the world's highest air pollution level.

A denon hi-fi audio system is in place along with inclined leather seats with massaging and heating options for the driver and front passenger. Citroen plans to offer three petrol engines at launch, all mated to manual and automated six speed transmission options. The twin turbocharged units displace approximately 136, 160 and 200 BHP respectively.
Technical specifications on this vehicle work well for the needs of Chinese customers while Citroen is currently working on a Wild Rubis Concept also based on Chinese markets. These vehicles should be up for launch fall 2015 while being showcased by the end of 2014. Huge car sales are on the cards while demand is on a constant rise. Citroen has been doing equally well in European markets although Asia has a larger prospect of growing. Saturation is currently a global problem. Hence, car makers are working on newer technologies to woo potential customers.

Citroen plans on selling 200,000 units of the DS in China alone and even though this may look like a farfetched idea, it could be possible if current sales figures are maintained. We are looking forward to driving this vehicle on road and a comprehensive drive test review will be up soon. Hence, stay tuned for latest updates and news.
