Citroen Ready to Roll out the New DS3 Cabriolet
|   Tuesday, January 29, 2013
Citroen has launched the first car to rival the likes of the Fiat 500C and the Mini Convertible and this hot rod is known as the Citroen DS3 Cabriolet. The fact that Citroen decided to transform this vehicle into a Cabriolet is good news for the European market. The vehicle has been aimed at the British market and considering the pleasant weather in the countryside, the DS3 Cabriolet should do considerably well in the market.

Considering the fact that Citroen is a popular brand in Europe, the DS3 Cabriolet should be one of the most popular launches of this year.
The DS3 shares the sardine tin roof with the 500C and a single button controls the roof lining which backs into the rear quarters of the car. Although this does not comply with the basic designing principles of a Cabriolett, it does bring forth a new designing concept.

Citroen has installed minor designing trends like an additional spoiler, aerodynamic reflectors, and three dimensional LED lights with quarter lamp surrounds. These make the DS3 Cabriolet stand out in the crowd and the roof designs and bumpers are done up in the body tone. The DS3 Cabriolet features three distinct engine options – THP 155 models, VTi 80 and VTi 120 and each of them are mated to a five or six speed manual transmission system.

The price for the base model of the DS3 Cabriolet starts at £15,000 and the vehicle sports three distinct trim levels – DSport, DStyle and DSign. The DStyle VTi 120 is expected to be the most popular model in the United Kingdom as it is placed at the middle of the segment and is expected to be priced at £17,425.

However, the model of choice for the performance freaks should be the DSport THP 155. It has the right mixture of power, performance and panache and sports excellent time figures on the leader board in its segment. Citroen were perfectly sure of what they needed to build before setting their sights on the DS3 Cabriolet and as a result they have achieved exactly what they had planned on.

The roof can be retraced till speeds of 75 MPH and it takes close to 16 seconds to get a lock on the roof. The Mini Convertible can retrace the roof at a maximum speed of 20 MPH while the 500C can do it till 37 MPH. Therefore, the DS3 takes the crown in this department. If you try to retrace the roof at speeds greater than 75 MPH, you will receive a warning message requesting you not to proceed.

The roof will not move from its position until the speed has been lowered below the 75 MPH mark and this is in accordance with Citroen's policy of driving with the wind in the air. The DS3 is the perfect Cabriolet to go for at this price range and Citroen's efficient service network will make sure that the owners do not have an issue to complain even if the vehicle faces any minor issues.
