Citroen Plans on Launching the DS3 DSport e HDI 115 Air Dream
|   Friday, February 08, 2013
Citroen has confirmed plans to launch a more appealing version of the DS3 hatchback - the DS3 Sport e HDI 115 Air Dream. The DS3 DSport is quite cheap to own and maintain although you are sure to grab attention from behind the wheel. The exterior is quite chic and attractive and Citroen has gone a few steps ahead to design this vehicle in terms of exterior ergonomics.

The DS3 hatch was first launched in 2009 and a revamped version featuring a diesel engine featuring the e HDI tag was launched in 2010.
The 2013 model is an enhancement on the 2010 unit with additional power and more fuel economy. The new model displaces 113 BHP along with 199 ft lb of torque and 0 – 60 MPH is achieved within 10 seconds. Claimed fuel efficiency is close to 74 MPG and the CO2 emission rate has been brought below the 100 g/km range.

This means additional tax benefits from the Government. The DS3 enjoys a considerable amount of popularity in the market and this is generally due to its reliability and easy to use stature. The 1.6 liter THP petrol engines installed in the DS3 is quite peppy and torque friendly and wants to be pushed to its limits.

Citroen has made a few remarkable modifications to the DS3, the most notable among which is the new 3D LED treatment which has been applied to the rear end. The interior has been overhauled and the new dash board has a sense of urgency to it. The colorful interior upholstery fills in for the different patterns applied on it and the new alloyed wheels say a separate story.

Citroen has also planned on introducing a 1.2 liter 81 BHP displacing petrol engine and this has been introduced to reduce the entry level pricing of the vehicles. The chassis is stout while the suspension system is quite advanced. Overall, driving the DS3 DSport e HDI 115 Air Dream is a dream and the vehicle handles quite effortlessly. Citroen is bound to penetrate into other markets with this product and the manufacturer plans on launching a few models of the DS3 to appeal to a wider audience base.

Acceleration feels decent although it is not as quirky as compared to normal diesel engines. The most rev friendly region is the range between 5000 – 7000 RPM and the vehicle feels comfortable and easy to drive in any torque range. However, the 17 inch alloy wheels make the vehicle quite skid prone and this could have been avoided by using larger wheels on this model.

Although the THP 155 is bound to be the most popular DS3, the e HDI 115 is a decent competitor. It has its separate aesthetic and is bang for the buck. Interior space is sufficient while the vehicle is quite stylish once compared to the Alfa Romeo Mito and the Audi A1, both of which fall in the same segment as the Citroen DS3 DSport e HDI 115 Air Dream.
