Citroen Launches The Technospace Concept At Geneva, The Promoter Of The Future C4 Picasso
|   Tuesday, February 12, 2013
The Citroen brand has written a success story with Picasso range. With an avant-garde design, extremely generous interior space and a range of efficient engines, the Picasso models have brought many customers in Citroen showrooms since 1999, the year of onset.

With the Citroen Xsara Picasso, C4 Picasso, Grand C4 Picasso and C3 Picasso, Citroen has constructed a real success story, becoming a leader in the compact MPV segment. Citroen sold nearly 3 million Picassos since 1999.
Now, the French manufacturer is entering a new phase in this segment, revealing the Citroen Technospace concept - a compact MPV which will be launched in the second half of this year.

The fundamental silhouette of the C4 Picasso is recognizable from before, even with the altered proportions due to the car's new dimensions. The overhangs however are reduced for a more compact look, but excellent visibility should be offered from the split A-pillars.

The new Picasso model will be preceded by the Technospace. Its arrival is expected at the Geneva Motor Show very soon (7-17 March 2013). The Citroen Technospace paves the way for a new generation of the C4 Picasso, a model which in the past enjoyed a very good reception in Central and Western Europe.

The serial version will borrow more from the design concept today and will debut on the market in the second half of the year.
The Technospace has a more pronounced front end, with wider tailgate opening plus a side window line that is stepped at the leading edge of the front door, as opposed to the rear door. A couple of slim, vertically stacked headlights lay on either side of the front grille.

Built on an improved platform, named EMP2 (Efficient Modular Platform) the future C4 Picasso will benefit from a lightweight and efficient architecture. The latter, along with the overall dimensions (4.43 m long, 1.83 meters wide, 1.61 meters high and with a wheelbase of 2.783 meters) will guarantee a generous interior space for five or seven passengers. That makes it 40 mm shorter than the current C4 Picasso, but with a 55 mm longer wheelbase than the current car, cabin space will be improved. The luggage compartment reaches new values, standing at a capacity of 537 liters.

Everything will be packed into a new design philosophy, dominated by the brand's design, with 3D effect headlamps and LED lights. And interior changes will also be made. Citroen will try to keep the ergonomics nonconformist, but will focus most functions within a large touch screen measuring 12 inches. Of course, HD resolution is implemented.

Engine details were left off the media release, but the company claims a combined average CO2 emissions figure of 98g/km, which converts to a diesel use of around 3.8L/100km or a petrol consumption figure of around 4.3L / 100 km. That's right, the new model will have come available with both types of engines. More on the engine details when the Citroen higher ups stop being so secretive.
