Citroen DS4 Gets 3 New Engines, Including A 180-HP Diesel Unit
|   Friday, February 20, 2015
Citroen DS4 will expand the current range with a series of new engines, three in number, ready to satisfy both customers who want a frugal diesel as well as those who expect more performance.

For those who dream of a petrol DS4, those at Citroen offers now a THP unit rated at 165 horsepower, equipped with start stop system, connected to an automatic transmission with six reports. The fuel consumption reached 5.5 liters / 100 km, a 29 percent improvement compared to the THP 160, and emission value stops at 130 g / km.
So, these figures make it a strong competitor in its category.

For those who prefer diesel, Citroen provides two units. One of them is a BlueHDi with 150 horsepower, with start-stop system as standard equipment, and a manual gearbox with six reports. Although it offers generous power, the French engine guzzles just 3.9 liters per 100 km, and can promise an emissions figure of just 100 g / km. However, it develops a torque of 370 Nm, 20 to 70 Nm more than its main rivals. Compared with the HDi 135, the BlueHDi 150 S&S offers 50 Nm more torque, 25 hp more horses, and a 20 percent drop in CO2 emissions and fuel consumption.

The second diesel engine offered by the people at Citroen is a BlueHDi with 180 horsepower, with start-stop system and automatic gearbox with six reports. It also has reduced diesel consumption: 4.3 liters / 100 km and an emission rate of 113 g / km. Torque stands at 400 Nm, the highest in this vehicle category (up to 50 Nm more than its main rivals) all for the best in driving pleasure.

In addition to the new range of engines, the new Citroen DS4 will offer to its customers who opt for higher levels of equipment a series of new technologies such as keyless start button to start the engine, and a new navigation system projected on a large 7-inch touchscreen.

Drivers can open, close and start the car, while keeping the keys in his pocket. This is made possible using HFAS (hands-free access and start-up) that detects the key from a distance of two meters from the vehicle.

These three additional new engines that combine fuel economy and power, and are available on the DS 4, namely the THP 165 S & S EAT6, BlueHDi S & S 150 6-speed manual, and BlueHDi S & S 180 EAT6, come to complete the engine range after in November last year the PureTech 130 and 120 BlueHDi were launched. In total, five new engines - all of which are Euro 6 compliant - were launched in four months on the DS4 models alone.

This engine range review brings higher performance and better energy efficiency. Because of this fact, the DS 4 models reached the top of the rankings in their vehicle category.

Note that the DS 4 models were equipped with navigation system, hands free access and start up system. These features are characteristic usually available to models situated higher on the price scale.
