Chrysler unveils the all new 2012 300 SRT8
|   Sunday, August 05, 2012
Chrysler has tasted considerable success with the launch of the 300 C back in 2005. Hence, a necessary upgrade to the car was announced recently, the Chrysler 2012 300 SRT*. The car combines great looks, high speed, dramatic styling, and class leading performance.

The 2012 300 SRT8 is the ultimate sedan in this league and with an engine producing 347 kW power and 631 Nm torque, the car is not meant for the weak at heart. This is the best example of a complete sedan and has the right proportion of luxury, volume, economy, speed and handling that is wanted in a sports sedan.

The 2012 300 is powered by a massive 6.4 liter Hemi V8 that produces massive power to boost the car. The instruments powering the car were always of top quality and the 2012 model sports a new improved active exhaust technology that allows better acceleration while saving up precious fuel.

The torque output system has been enhanced which improves straight line performance of the car by a considerable margin. The car has great stability control at any given speed and traction is of primary importance in this vehicle.

The innovative road hug designing helps the car maintain a better grip on the road and the efficient aerodynamics also plays its part in stabilizing the vehicle. The old five speed manual transmission has been retained in the vehicle but the gear shift pedals have been relocated behind the steering wheel, a must on all modern sports cars.

The car has two customizable modes, normal and sports and the improved drive train features reduce vibrations by a considerable margin hence improving overall performance. Chrysler's SRT team retuned the previous model, fitted a new engine, made some minor modifications to the transmission and suspension and reduced a few kg from the old model, to create Chrysler's most advanced performance sedan till date.

The 300 SRT8 is the easiest Chrysler to control and this is mainly due to its superb engineering. The car accelerates to 100 km/h from 0 km/h in less than 5 seconds and the car crosses the quarter mile marker in less than 12 seconds. The car has a top speed of 280 km/h with stopping power of 100 – 0 km/h in less than 30 meters.

Chrysler's SRT vehicles are known for their overall performance and braking has always been one of Chrysler's top priorities. The 300 SRT8 sports 360 mm front and 350 mm rear Brembo disc brakes with metallic silver finishing which can stop the beast from any practical speed.

Chrysler's ready alert braking system is an innovative feature which senses when the driver brakes and accelerates hesitantly. The emergency brakes and stability control system activate automatically in such situations and the car is brought to a steady halt in a matter of a few seconds.
Improved air ducts facilitate air flow in the vents and the cooling ducts receive sufficient time to acquire enough stopping power. Chrysler is expected to price the 300 SRT8 around R 629,990.
