Chrysler reveals the all new 2013 SRT Viper
|   Thursday, September 27, 2012
The 2013 Dodge Viper is here and although on the exterior front it may look similar to its predecessor, the supercar from Chrysler has been renovated and engineered to its core. However, the performance lovers should consider themselves lucky to be viewing the 2013 model as Dodge had planned to phase out its supercar brand just like the TVR.

Chrysler faced a severe bankruptcy in 2008 and had to close the PVR as they did not consider a 600 BHP car to be viable for the volatile US economy of the time.
Chrysler was put up for sale by General Motors and Fiat came along the way to save the company from being lost in oblivion and hence saved the American icon and its most powerful V10 supercar from being destroyed.

The Viper can be considered to be the common man's supercar and hence to reduce costs on the vehicle, the Viper lacked quite a few essential components and luxury features like climate control, automatic stability control, cruise control, navigator and decent seats. However, all this is set to change once the 2013 Viper makes its entrance into showrooms.

The new Viper is more stable, driver friendly and refined than any of its predecessors and the vehicle feels like it has finally been tamed by a certain percentage. The Viper was the armored tank of the freeways and nothing in its price bracket could come remotely close to it in terms of performance.

The Viper was called the Chrysler Viper, Dodge Viper or the Viper SRT 10 in various countries depending on the brand which offered it. However, the 2013 Viper will be known universally as the Viper SRT as Chrysler's Street Racing Technology wing has transformed into a brand itself.

The SRT will not be available in the UK in the first quarter of 2013. However, the vehicles can be imported from other countries if customers wish for it. SRT has a maximum production capability of 2200 cars per year and this is not sufficient to supply vehicles all over the world. Hence Chrysler plans to increase infrastructure before launching the vehicle worldwide.

People who want to import the 2013 Viper SRT will feel the vehicle's raw power – a trademark of American Muscle vehicles – refined into a channel. The SRT Viper is the first manageable vehicle in the Viper series thanks to its electronic stability control and other features.

The stark differentiation between the cars is felt at once when you shift from the cabin of the old Viper into the new one. Chrysler is offering test drives for people interested in the 2013 SRT Viper and you have to complete a few laps in the old model of the vehicle and switch to the new model.

The driving experience of the Viper has changed completely and this is an added incentive to the SRT Viper. Price starting from $75,000 for the base model, the SRT Viper is a choice for the performance freaks and racing enthusiasts.
