Chevy Sonic RS - a new market hit
|   Tuesday, September 04, 2012
After being years since the car was unveiled in the Detroit Motor Show 2011, Chevrolet has finally decided to market the all new Chevy Sonic Rs. The car now has an official tag price and is set to hit to retailers soon this year.

It was no surprise that the car is being sold at this point in time. The Auto Market has been leaning over to hatchbacks and sporty-styled hatchbacks for some time now and this is probably the peak. Almost every brand is now marketing a five door hatchback in the market and has been enjoying the response.
This includes luxury brands such as BMW, Audi and Mercedes who all now have hatchbacks competing the compact car segment.

The Chevy Sonic s Rs was priced at $20,995 and Chevy is trying to attract the young crowd with it. The car was specifically designed to create a buzz amongst young buyers and give them a young and youthful driving experience. This is not such a far fetched statement either, the car comes with standard 17 inch alloy rims, fog lamps, the famous Chevy Grille and many chrome finished add-ons with the car.

The car also comes with a RS badge, meaning a turbocharged 1.4 liter Ecotec engine just like any of the other Chevy Sonic cars. The one main difference for the Rs is the dual transmission option which gives the car a completely sporty feel, a feeling unavailable in the other Chevy Sonic line up. The Rs line also gets a different gear box as compared to the others in the lineup. The Rs gets a 6-speed gear box for the young sports driver while the regular Sonic drivers only get a 5-speed gear box. Of course the car had to be made slightly bit lower to accommodate for the extra speed and sport look.

All in all on paper, the car seems to be an excellent choice for all young drivers and affordable as well. With a near 21 grand price tag, the car will be an excellent choice for college students looking for their very first cars. Of course it nowhere near to the already popular and most affordable KIA cars but they of course lack the sport tune up and features that you get in the Chevy Sonic RS. The Sonic is also much cheaper than other Start up cars such as the Ford Focus which is $4000 more pricier than the Sonic or even the Fiat 500 which is nearly two grand ahead.

Finally if you talk about fuel economy then we are not expecting a huge loss in mileage compared to the regular Sonic RS drives. With a smaller engine size fuel economy has been taken care of in the RS and students and youngsters can stay at ease with their tiny budgets. It seems the Chevy Sonic RS is simply packed with fun and excitement for young and new drivers so we are convinced that the car is going to be a hit in the market.
