Chevrolet Reveals the Prices of the Corvette C7 Stingray
|   Friday, May 03, 2013
Chevrolet has just announced the price of the Corvette Stingray C7 Convertible and Coupe models and the prices of the Convertible start at $56,995 (£36,750) while the Coupe is available for $51,995 (£33,500). There has been a modest amount of increase in the prices of the C7 over the C6 which was priced at $54,600 (£35,200) for the Convertible and $49,600 (£32,000) for the Coupe.

An increase in the overall prices was on the cards despite the huge amount of change was not anticipated.
The C7 is more powerful than its predecessor and is highly advanced when it comes to basic engineering. Chevrolet is set to launch the Corvette C7 in England although the vehicle will be available in left hand drive only. Although prices have not been announced in Britain as of yet, the Corvette C6 sported a price tag of £62,996.

The C7 is sportier and more powerful and as a result the pricing is set to increase. Considering the price difference of the current Corvette C6 in the UK and America, the C7 is expected to be priced anywhere within £65,000 to £70,000 in the UK. Despite reports, importers claim that the starting price of the C7 will be within £55,000 although the higher placed models should be priced upwards of £65,000.

The top end models such features the Z51 Sports Package and is priced higher than the base model by £5,000 while a convertible model will set back customers by another £5,000. If the Corvette is priced within £55,000 - £70,000, it will face a stiff competition in the market from the Jaguar F Type V6 S which is priced at £67,520, the Porsche 911 Carrera which is priced at £71,449, The Mercedes Benz SLK55 AMG priced at £55,005 and the Lotus Evora S, priced at £62,290.

Both Convertible and Coupe version of the C7 sports a 6.2 liter V8 engine displacing 450 BHP, mated to a seven speed transmission system along with an Active Rev Match. Chevrolet is also offering an optional six speed automatic transmission system on both models of the C7. The vehicle has five distinct drive modes along with 12 adjustable parameters which control the various driving dynamics of the vehicle.
The Z51 Sports Package has been designed exclusively for the American customers although it will be available as an option in all target markets. This sports package enhances the performance of the vehicle by a huge margin which enhances performance but at the cost of fuel efficiency.

The Z51 Sports Package modifications shorten the gear ratios of the C7 while adding performance traction. This as a result enhances the road hugging capability of the C7 therefore bettering performance. Chevrolet claims that the C7 is capable of accelerating from 0 – 60 MPH within four seconds and there has been a massive enhancement in performance on the C7. Optional features are abundant when it comes to the C7 and Chevrolet has added an optional carbon fiber roof to the C7 for an additional £820.
