Chevrolet Malibu completes a 50 year journey of existence

Chevrolet Malibu was a car launched in the early parts of 1960's. Then it was well known as a complete family car. However when the car was formed it was pushed into the list of muscle cars ruling the planet at that time. Even now Chevrolet Malibu is a family car with a lot more to offer to people compared to what it had in its initial stages.

This car made its debut in 1964. Over the years there have been a lot of innovations and now this car is in its eights generation.
At first this car was available as a sports car with two doors for entry and exit. The seats were bucket shaped and had a four speed manual transmission gearbox. Then this car could produce only 300 HP from its V8 engine.

In 1965 this car was upgraded and then the engine could produce close to 350 HP. However the car went on to make more progress and reached 398 HP in 1966. Those were the best times for Chevrolet Malibu because in next few years Chevrolet had to cut down on power and the car lost importance.

The second generation of this car came about in 1968. In 1970 it reached its prime when it could produce close to 400 HP of power to run the car. Usually this car had an 8 cylinder engine but this car was also available in ^ cylinder engines that produced a lot less power compared to the V8 engine.

Third generation of this car arrived before people in mid 1970's. Though Malibu was just a name for two other versions, it was still considered in its generations. Then this car had a unique feature through which you could recognize the model from any angle. This car had square headlights stacked up at that time.

Fourth generation made its mark in 1978. It lost its curves from its previous generations and it also lost a lot of weight but engine variants in this generation was a complete disaster. 14 years later this car reached its 5th generation. This was a big success as the 5th generation laid the foundation for the modern versions of Chevrolet Malibu.

Sixth generation Malibu came to the front in 2004. Highlight of this generation was that the car was also available in 240 HP, 6 cylinders, 5 door hatchback versions. It was called Malibu Maxx. It was however disposed off in 2008. 2008 saw the emergence of 7th generation Malibu. This time the car had a completely new body, a different look and a lot of space to go with it.

The cars that we see at the dealers place and in showrooms now are all 8t generation Chevrolet Malibu. Over the years the car has undergone a lot of innovation. Some was progressive and some were not. However, now the makers can proudly say that the car is at it safest version in present with complete safety features and assistance.
