Chevrolet Confirms Plans to Send Corvette Callaway Shooting Brake to Production
|   Friday, October 04, 2013
Pro Corvette tuner Callaway is set to put its customized Corvette Shooting Brake into production, insiders have recently unveiled. This vehicle, known as the Callaway AeroWagon is designed on a chassis and base frame, lifted off the Corvette C7. Use of carbon fiber and aluminum is high in these cars and it features a lightweight yet steady foundation for a vehicle as quick and sporty as this Shooting Brake.

Callaway says that this car features advanced use of carbon fiber molding while increased luggage capacity has been provided additionally, unlike any other Corvette so far.
Due to its typical chassis structure, Corvette Shooting Brake will not feature four seats. Instead, its current two seat layout will be present while the interior will receive a new trim setting. Some of the interior modifications include an all new teak boot floor, upgraded carpets and leather upholstery and stainless steel inserts.

On the exterior, we can still find the C7's tail lamps and rear valance although this vehicle does look a little bigger than its predecessors on the outside. Comfort is high, which is a first on a Corvette, apart from its Sting Ray variant, introduced earlier this year. Corvettes were known as pure race bred vehicles, used for speed. However, this was a downside of these cars as they failed to attract a more refine class.

Chevrolet had to tame the beast if they wanted to appeal to a wider class of buyers. This was the company's major motto for a while. Callaway was aware of these needs and hence made necessary modifications to this vehicle. Callaway however confirmed that they will not be manufacturing a four door Corvette as it would ruin the original sports coupe concept of this vehicle.

Callaway originally wanted their Shooting Brake to sport a top speed of 200+ MPH. This was however restricted as it would make the Corvette quite difficult to keep steady on road. Safety concerns were addressed and this vehicle now sports a top speed within 200 MPH. On road figures are not available as a proto type has not been tested on road.

Callaway will however be providing optional performance packs, which could push up its top speed over 200 MPH, which are 10 more than its base model. Callaway has made quite a few modifications on their Shooting Brake and this finally controls the Corvette's passive handling. Driving one of these is now a risk free affair and drivers will finally feel confident behind its wheels. Chevrolet is trying to reel in their beast and this is relevant as they plan on going global with this car.

This vehicle has a lower drag coefficient which enhances handling and top end performance. Corvette fans can rejoice now as performance edition vehicles are soon to be available across showrooms, without any prior request. Chevrolet is thinking about high end customization options for this vehicle and it should be an additional feather on the Corvette's already high end specifications. We will keep you posted about the latest news about the Shooting Brake.
