Chevrolet Bolt - 100 Percent EV Concept Representing The Future As Seen By The American Brand
|   Friday, January 16, 2015
Chevrolet presented at the Detroit Motor Show a concept called Bolt. It represents an accessible electric vehicle that announces a range of 322 kilometers. The Chevrolet Bolt was the second premiere at the stand of the American brand at the Auto Show in Detroit.

We are talking about a 100 percent sibling to the electric Volt which can run up to 322 kilometers on one charge and which looks totally different from the second generation of the series hybrid bearing the American's brand.
Bolt is just a concept for now, but has a hatchback body with a reminiscent design of the BMW i3, and presents a vision for available GM electric cars.

On the interior, the Chevrolet Bolt promises generous space for passengers' heads and feet, along with a transparent ceiling that enhances the feeling of inside space. The GM designers have used a minimalist style for the passenger compartment. So they relied on a board with futuristic design and thin stools, in Scandinavian style for their accessible electric vehicle concept. The multimedia center has a 10-inch IntelliLink unit.

The Bolt concept also has crossover aesthetics. The proportions are unique, with basically no front or rear console, thus taking full advantage of the interior space. This was how the interior was designed to make room for the four passengers. To complete the design they used lightweight materials, like aluminum, magnesium, carbon fiber and even woven mesh.

The specifications of this concept were not disclosed, but the Americans from Chevrolet announce a range of over 322 kilometers in 100 percent electric mode. The really interesting part in this concept is the expected price of about 30,000 dollars in the basic version, which would make the Bolt version highly competitive on the United States market.

Until then, the model must receive approval for further development and another green light for entry into production.
"The Bolt EV concept is a game-changing electric vehicle designed for attainability, not exclusivity. Chevrolet believes electrification is a pillar of future transportation and needs to be affordable for a wider segment of customers. We have made tremendous strides in technologies that make it easier and more affordable for Chevrolet customers to integrate an all-electric vehicle in their daily lives. The Bolt EV concept demonstrates General Motors' commitment to electrification and the capabilities of our advanced EV technology" declared Mary Barra, General Motors CEO.

Ed Welburn, vice president, GM Global Design, said that "Form and function have never meshed so well together. No compromises were made when it came to aesthetics and the elements that contribute to the Bolt EV concept's range, resulting in a unique proportion that's sleek, efficient and obviously a Chevrolet. The Bolt EV concept's interior is intended as a sanctuary, with materials and technologies that reinforce the airy ambience and help contribute to the vehicle's overall efficiency. It also incorporates technology in a subtler and simpler manner, for a more soothing driving experience – particularly in busy, urban environments."
