Celebration at Volkswagen: The German Group Has Sold 7 Million Units In Nine months
|   Sunday, October 20, 2013
The Volkswagen Group is having the best year in its history. In the first nine months of 2013, the German group has managed to overcome the historical record of sales for the first three quarters of the year, managing to sell over seven million vehicles. Paradoxically, it all happened while sales in Europe's and South America's markets have fallen, but the balance was tilted due to the results of the Asia-Pacific region, and North America.

Only on the Chinese market, the Group sold 2.
5 million units in the first nine months of 2013, an increase of 17.7 percent over the same period last year. Europe brought to the group sales figure 2.73 million vehicles, followed by the Asia-Pacific region with sales of 2.63 million units. On the last places we have South America, with 681,200 units and North America, with 664,500 units.

Broken down by car brand, the result is an increase for Volkswagen, Audi and SEAT. Skoda is one of the few brands of cars from the Volkswagen group with decreased during this period. The brand from Mlada Boleslav saw decreased sales by 4.5 percent, compared to the same period of last year, totaling 684,900 units sold, in contrast to the record growth of t Seat with 11.7 percent, which totaled only 266,100 units.

Porsche has managed to sell 119,700 units, but its results have not yet been quantified, since it became a member of the Volkswagen family only in August 2012.
Audi deliveries went up 8 percent to 1.18 million, while VW sales rose 4 percent through September to 4.36 million.

Christian Klingler, Member of the Board of Management for Sales at Volkswagen Group: "The Volkswagen Group grew further in September, with deliveries for the first three quarters of the year topping the seven million mark for the first time. Thanks to a broad-based, international positioning and a convincing product range we were able to respond well to the continuing uncertainty in the eurozone and the challenging overall market situation — and have thus been able to win many customers for our attractive models."

VW is aiming to reach of 9.5 million cars by this year's end, up from 9.3 million back in 2012. This comes directly from CEO Martin Winterkorn in a statement last month at the Frankfurt auto show.
