Caterham's Seven 160 is a Race Car in Every Sense
|   Monday, November 04, 2013
It seems as though Caterham was found to provide us with cars capable of causing an adrenaline rush within the enthusiasts. Meet the latest variant of Caterham's speed demon – the much talked about Seven 160. This vehicle is newer, better and more powerful than its predecessor, which also gives it an edge in terms of top speed and handling. Caterham has taken special care when it comes to electronic driver aids and these are in place as no major safety features such as air bags can be installed in the skeletal structure of this car.

Electronic Stability Control, Traction Control etc. need to be relied upon in order to preserve safety aspects of its driver and passenger. This however is a fun to drive vehicle and we would rather chose to travel in a Caterham than a Volvo any day. Equipped with a 660 cc displacing 64 to 80 BHP, this Suzuki made engine may not look like the real deal but once you take this vehicle up for a spin on track or on road, its real deal is felt.

Caterham has worked extensively on the Seven's chassis to form the Seven 160 and his vehicle is capable of accelerating from 0 – 60 MPH in just 6.5 seconds while sporting a top speed of 100 MPH . These figures make it faster than a Lotus while it is priced at £17,995. This is safer than a motorcycle but if you are looking for something which gives a similar feel, the Seven 160 is perfect for you.

Traction control helps in most terrains while a solid rear axle helps this car stick to the road under any given circumstance. This vehicle is suitable for both freeway and urban commuting as its low wheel base makes it perfect for use within city limits while Caterham gives it a classy car appeal through exterior designing. There is nothing commuter about this vehicle and is the perfect street legal race car in the world. Unlike its competitors, the Ariel Atom, this vehicle is smaller and more user friendly.

Power generation feels crisp once you cross the 1500 RPM mark while maximum torque is displaced at the 2000 RPM mark. If you enjoy driving and the thrills of high speed, this might just be the vehicle for you. However, a driver needs to be careful at all times in order to avoid unnecessary accidents caused by human error. The turbo charger brings in the fun factor although over 5000 RPM the rickety feel is a downside.

However, keeping every aspect of this vehicle in mind, it is safe to conclude that this is the vehicle of choice for youngsters as well as those young at heart. If you want to feel the thrill of driving a Formula One vehicle but do not have the resources or means of getting one, go get yourself a Caterham Seven 160 as it is close enough. We will be bringing in latest news and updates of the automotive world. Stay tuned to stay updated.
