Caterham set to launch a new performance Coupe
|   Friday, January 11, 2013
Caterham has been in the market for quite some time now and the car makers are finally developing technologies and vehicles that have the power and girth to take on the products of the big players in the market. Vehicles from Caterham have been reliable and efficient, not to mention powerful in the past and the company has managed to build up a strong reputation for itself.

The all new vehicles developed by Caterham in accordance with Alpine uses a power train measure sourced from Renault and this vehicle is expected to compete with vehicles from Porsche.
The vehicle displaces 270 BHP and has a 0 - 60 MPH time limit below the 5 second mark. The coupe from Caterham is expected to sell for £40,000 and Caterham has set up a sales target of 25,000 for the first year of launch.

The yet to be named coupe from Caterham has been pitted against the Porsche Cayman and the vehicle is quite dynamic and is suited to the driving style of everyday use. Insiders at Caterham say that this vehicle has been developed to reach out to a certain kind of customer base and that the company has full plans of expanding and outsourcing, keeping in mind plans for the future.

Caterham is no more into making vehicles for the dedicated performance freaks. In fact they want to make their foray into the world of passenger cars as well in the near future although no such plans have been made as of yet. Even though the new vehicle will be a coupe, quite different from any Caterham vehicle of the past, it will have certain features which are bound to make it typically Caterham.

Caterham's most successful vehicle had been the R600 track car and the vehicle showed to the world what engineers from Caterham are capable of. Therefore the company has gained more public acceptance and fame and hence their new vehicles are bound to be accepted in the automotive world. Downsized engines are in at the moment as fuel efficiency is a big issue. Therefore, the new coupe should do well in the market.

Engine response and throttle along with the general drive train measures have been improved and this gives the vehicle an added edge in the segment. Good performance includes good handling potential and not all car makers are able to provide both at the same time. Porsche has been quite successfully doing this for quite some time and looks like Caterham has formally entered the race.

With a six speed transmission system, the new coupe is a hit with the testers already and the insiders from Caterham are quite excited to see the public reviews and reactions once the vehicle has been brought to the public eye at the Detroit Motor Show. Caterham is offering two distinct transmission options – a paddle shifter automatic and a six speed automatic and Caterham seems to be doing well where the Lotus Evora had failed to impress the crowd.
