Caterham Ready to Showcase 2014 Seven 165 at Frankfurt Next Week
|   Friday, September 06, 2013
British Automakers Caterham is currently working on their new supercar which they plan on unveiling at the Frankfurt Motor Show next week. The new entry level model is based on the legendary chassis of the Lotus Seven and experts are hinting at an expected base price of 17,000 British pounds (roughly $25,800). The vehicle is expected to hit the market early next year and will sport the 2015 mark badge.

The first look of the vehicle will be revealed next Thursday when the Caterham Seven is officially revealed and we will bring you the latest images as and when it happens.
Caterham has confirmed its presence at the Frankfurt Motor Show and we strongly believe that its primary reason is to unveil this vehicle.

This vehicle will go by the nameplate Caterham Seven 165 and is expected to draw power from a three cylindered turbo charged engine designed by Suzuki. The engine displaces 80 BHP along with 78 ft lb of torque and power is distributed to the rear wheels of the vehicle. The engine is mated to a five speed transmission system and this ensures proper power management and distribution at all times. Caterham suffered from an unequal power to weight distribution on the previous generation vehicles and the Seven 165 is set to be free from such abnormalities.

This vehicle is set to be the overall better vehicle and it is evident from the transformations made to the vehicle. The vehicle is more fuel efficient thanks to the redesigned drive train while the superior aerodynamics of the vehicle still makes it the best in class. Caterham confirms that the Seven 165 will go into production early next year while the first batch will be up for sale soon after.

However, the Caterham Seven 165 will not be available in the US although people need to contact individual importers to get hold of the vehicle. Although work on the 165 is near completion, the vehicle is still not complete in terms of engineering capability, as a result some work needs to be done even post the official unveil.
However, the engineering team is quite confident of its success and plans on completing work on the vehicle well within the allocated deadline. The car will move into production soon after. Caterham enthusiasts are very excited about the new Seven 165 and many people plan on preordering the vehicle as soon as bookings open. The car is inspirational and is the best solution for people who want to drive a Formula One car but will never have the opportunity to get near one.

Caterham has designed the Seven 165 exclusively for that class of people and they seem to have done a very convincing job. Caterham has just designed one of their most powerful track based vehicle – the 620R – and they plan on using the technology on their street legal vehicles. Although the track prepped vehicle is powered by Ford's latest 2.0 liter Dura Tec engine capable of displacing 311 BHP along with 219 ft lb of torque, the Seven 165 remains a smaller version of the same.
