Cadillac presents Next Generation with V8, 400 HP and two Turbochargers
|   Thursday, April 16, 2015
Cadillac has announced recently that their upcoming sensation CT6 is coming with a V8 engine which can produce about 400 horsepower with the help of two turbochargers. Company has plans to invest about $12 billion to build this and seven other models till 2020. The 2016 CT6 will have two V6 engines initially.

The LGX version contains an engine of 335 hp and 3.6 liter twin turbo where as the LGW version has 400 hp with 3.0 liter capacity. Both have V6 of 60 degree which share the core specifications like aluminum head and blocks.
They also have new dimensions of bore center, deep block skirts having the main bearings as cross bolted style. Few other similarities include a steel crankshaft, exhaust valve, each cylinder having four valves, dual overhead valve train featuring variable intake, exhaust manifolds and direct fuel injection system.

Both of the versions are capable of auto start and auto stop having cylindrical shut down ability because of their improved efficiency. The engineering of these models included dual orientation – longitudinal and transverse both in one. Both of these engines have fourth generation GM's high performance based V6 which was born back in 2004. The Chief Engineer of GM, Dave Muscaro said that V6 has the priority which produces lower noise, harshness and vibration as well but gives higher power with torque per displacement unit. Also it gives improved performance in terms of response, efficiency and quality result in each task.

Muscaro called the twin turbo which has the best V6 engine and industry's first ever turbocharger combination with direct injection, cylinder deactivation and auto start-stop options. Cadillac's Chief Executive Engineer, Dave Leone ensured that the V6s which he is using in these models will bring the end of V8s. By 2016, V8s would have become even more powerful and durable. So he decided that 2016 CT6 will have V8 twin turbo as mentioned earlier.

It is a big task to add more to a vehicle by deploying less displacements and pistons. So compact V6s which have the capability to run as V4s while light loads are on to make it more fuel efficient. Its reduced throttle losses with heat rejecting system pinned with its cooling system allows it to save energy better. There are several other features which make it a more light weight vehicle. It has titanium aluminum turbine wheels for rotating inertia claiming 51 percent.

Its 3.6 liter sized engine can produce 335 hp with 6800 rpm producing 284 pound ft torque at an rpm of 5300 with regular fuel. With a compression ratio of 11:5:1, this model delivers better output than even the likes of BMW, Audi and Mercedes-Benz brands. GM's current third generation V6 gets nine percent more fuel efficiency and more 14 hp and 9 pound ft torque. Ameer Haider, the Asst. Chief Engineer of Cadillac reported that it gives exemplary BSFC (brake-specific of fuel consumption). It means it will produce five decibel less sound that Audi's TFSI 3.0 liter V6 and from few other top models as well.
